Curcumin, multivalued phytoceutical, exhibits appreciable safety. However, its therapeutic utility is significantly compromised due to low aqueous solubility, and thus, poor absorption and low bioavailability become apparent. To surpass this limitation, the present work aims to develop amino acid salt-based curcumin@lysine acetate co-amorphous system for improved solubility and dissolution. Initially, screening of curcumin-amino acid mixtures was performed for saturation solubility assessment. Considering the outcome, lysine acetate was formulated to generate a co-amorphous mixture (COAM) by liquid-assisted grinding and evaluated for saturation solubility and different spectroscopical characterizations. Curcumin-lysine acetate COAM tablet formulation was developed by direct compression method and evaluated for …

Preparation And Characterization Of Curcumin-Loaded Liposomes For Delivery To The Lungs, Safura Binti Mohd Mohari, Kevin M. G. Taylor, Nattika Nimmano Jan 2022

Preparation And Characterization Of Curcumin-Loaded Liposomes For Delivery To The Lungs, Safura Binti Mohd Mohari, Kevin M. G. Taylor, Nattika Nimmano

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Curcumin-loaded liposomes comprising dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, cholesterol, and dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (72:8:20 mole ratio) were prepared by the thin-film hydration method, followed by probe sonication to achieve a mean diameter (FSI) pre-cooled at 2–8°C for at least 90 min at 15 L/min. Curcumin recovered from the impactor and nebulizer was quantified using a validated high-performance liquid chromatography method. Overall, 2.5% w/w curcumin-loaded liposomes was the optimal formulation based on the maximum encapsulation efficiency of approximately 87% and mean hydrodynamic diameter of 97 nm. This chosen curcumin concentration was effectively aerosolized with a fine particle fraction of 53.25%, and a fine particle dose of 53 …

The Study Of Physical Properties And Formulation Of Self-Assembling Nanogel From Grafted Hydrophilic Polymer Backbone As Stabilization System For Curcumin, Penpimon Charoenkanburkang, Tisana Kaewruethai, Pornchai Rojsitthisak, Jittima Amie Luckanagul Jan 2021

The Study Of Physical Properties And Formulation Of Self-Assembling Nanogel From Grafted Hydrophilic Polymer Backbone As Stabilization System For Curcumin, Penpimon Charoenkanburkang, Tisana Kaewruethai, Pornchai Rojsitthisak, Jittima Amie Luckanagul

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Introduction: The aim of this work is to formulate and study the thermoresponsive system with hyaluronic acid (HA) as a polysaccharide backbone grafted with poly-(N-isopropylacrylamide) (pNIPAM) for stabilization of highly sensitive molecule. Methods: The nanogel forming polymer was synthesized through EDC/NHS coupling reaction. The HA grafted pNIPAM (HA-g-pNIPAM) can be self-assembled to form gel particle. The synthesized HA-g-pNIPAM polymers were characterized by 1H NMR. Size, influence of media to forming nanogel, thermoresponsive behavior and influence of HA-g-pNIPAM nanogel network on curcumin loading capacity and stability were investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and UV-VIS spectrophotometry. Result and Discussion: The results …
