Background: The current study is the first study that investigated the potential of phenolic-rich fraction of Pandanus tectorius fruits as an anti-inflammatory agent. The fruit is rich in phenolic compounds, especially from the flavonoids group. Phenolics are known to contribute to an anti-inflammatory activity. Objectives: The first objective of the study was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory potency of phenolic-rich fractions of P. tectorius fruits by in vitro and in vivo studies. The second was to investigate the cytotoxicity against RAW264.7 cell lines, antioxidant, and phenolic contents to support the experiment. Materials and Methods: Sample fractionation was done with hexane, ethyl …

Synthesis And Anti-Inflammatory Effects Evaluation Of 1,3 Substituted Isatin Derivatives, Farshid Hassanzadeh, Elham Jafari, Nahal Khayambashi, Valiollah Hajhashemi Jan 2021

Synthesis And Anti-Inflammatory Effects Evaluation Of 1,3 Substituted Isatin Derivatives, Farshid Hassanzadeh, Elham Jafari, Nahal Khayambashi, Valiollah Hajhashemi

Objectives: Inflammation is a pathophysiological response of the body to a variety of agents including infections and physical injury leading to local accumulation of plasma fluid and blood cells. Isatin as a promising heterocyclic molecule has shown interesting biological profile. In this study, some derivatives of isatin containing both Schiff and mannich base fragments were synthesized in a three-step procedure. Methods: Benzohydrazide derivatives were prepared by reaction of benzoat derivatives with hydrazine hydrate. The Schiff bases were formed by treatment isatin with the benzo hydrazide derivatives. The corresponding mannich bases have been synthesized by the reaction of the Schiff bases …

A new series of 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives (3a-j) were synthesized by reacting p-toluic benzhydrazide (1) and substituted aromatic aldehydes (2) in the presence of ceric ammonium nitrate as catalyst and dichloromethane as a solvent medium. The structures of the new compounds were assigned based on IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectral data and further evaluated for their in vitro anti-inflammatory potential using various protein denaturation methods following bovine serum and egg albumin assay. Some tested compounds 3e, 3f, and 3i displayed moderate anti-inflammatory activity compared to the standard diclofenac sodium.

In Silico Docking And Pharmacophoric Analysis Of 3-Indolyl Pyridine Derivatives Toward Cyclooxygenase-2, Sukumar Bepary, Ge Hyeong Lee, Hee Jong Lim, In Kwon Youn Jan 2015

In Silico Docking And Pharmacophoric Analysis Of 3-Indolyl Pyridine Derivatives Toward Cyclooxygenase-2, Sukumar Bepary, Ge Hyeong Lee, Hee Jong Lim, In Kwon Youn

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences

A series of 3-indolyl pyridine derivatives having anti-inflammatory activities were docked into the indomethacin binding pocket of cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme. In this in silico study, the possible orientations of the molecules in the binding site of the rec...
