Epidemics and the emergence of zoonoses are manifestations of dysfunctional links with animals, both wild and domestic, requiring a new approach to health and the environment.

Animal Sentience
Treves et al. explain the need to preserve the rights of nonhuman species, human youth, and future generations. This has important consequences for conservation-related policy and practice at all scales: local, regional, and global.
