Phylogenetic Status And Genetic Diversity Of Corsac Fox(Vulpes Corsac) In Golestan Province, Iran, Jalil Imani Harsini, Hamid Reza Rezaei, Saeid Naderi, Hosein Varasteh Moradi Jan 2017

Phylogenetic Status And Genetic Diversity Of Corsac Fox(Vulpes Corsac) In Golestan Province, Iran, Jalil Imani Harsini, Hamid Reza Rezaei, Saeid Naderi, Hosein Varasteh Moradi

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The lack of detailed and precise reports about the presence of corsac fox has caused ambiguities about the presence or absence or even extinction status of this species in its distribution range in Iran. Therefore, this is one of the complicated issues in Iran?s wildlife fauna and there has been no clear scientific answer to this question to date. In this study, 7 mitochondrial DNA control region haplotypes were identified in 10 corsac fox samples (4 tissue and 6 scat) taken from Golestan Province in Iran, and haplotype diversity was equal to 0.93. The genetic distance between individuals showed large …

Molecular Characterization Of Edible Pea Through Est-Ssr Markers, Mohammad Nisar, Asaf Khan, Syed Fazal Wadood, Aftab Ali̇ Shah, Fati̇h Hanci Jan 2017

Molecular Characterization Of Edible Pea Through Est-Ssr Markers, Mohammad Nisar, Asaf Khan, Syed Fazal Wadood, Aftab Ali̇ Shah, Fati̇h Hanci

Turkish Journal of Botany

The genetic diversity among 23 newly developed homosegregate pea lines (Pisum sativum L.) was assessed with a total of 13 expressed sequence tag (EST) based-simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. The percentages of amplified and nonamplified primers were 92% and 8%, respectively, and 58.33% of the used primers gave the PCR product within the reported size range while 41.66% of primers gave a different product size. Polymorphism information content (PIC), major allele frequency, and variation in genetic diversity were calculated. The PIC ranged from 0.32 to 0.63 with an average of 0.50. Major allele frequency ranged from 0.48 to 0.78 with …

Evaluation Of The Genetic Diversity Of Pomegranate Accessions From Turkey Using New Microsatellite Markers, Oğuzhan Çalişkan, Safder Bayazit, Mert Öktem, Ali̇ Ergül Jan 2017

Evaluation Of The Genetic Diversity Of Pomegranate Accessions From Turkey Using New Microsatellite Markers, Oğuzhan Çalişkan, Safder Bayazit, Mert Öktem, Ali̇ Ergül

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

Turkey has many valuable genetic resources for pomegranate; however, there have not been many studies on the identification and characterization of these important genetic resources. New microsatellite markers were used to characterize a set of 78 pomegranate accessions from Turkey. Using six SSR primers, a total of 41 alleles were characterized with an average of 4.6 alleles per locus and mean probability of identity (PI) value of 0.366. These data indicated a high level of polymorphism in pomegranate germplasm. Five synonymous groups could be detected among 30 accessions. This microsatellite-based key is a first step towards a database for marker-assisted …

The genus Rosa L. (Rosaceae) is an important ornamental crop with a high economic value in floriculture, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. Turkey is an important country in rose cultivation with unique species and cultivars, especially for rose oil production. Breeding programs of different rose genotypes are crucial for the development of new commercial varieties. In this study, genetic relationships among the old rose cultivars locally grown in Isparta were assessed by DNA fingerprinting. Inter-simple sequence repeats markers (ISSRs) were used to investigate the genetic diversity among nineteen locally grown rose genotypes. Nineteen ISSR primers yielded a total of 413 scorable …

Genetic Diversity And Molecular Characterization Of Natural Pancratium Maritimum L. Populations By Dna Markers, Ceren Eli̇bol, Behi̇ye Banu Bi̇lgen Jan 2017

Genetic Diversity And Molecular Characterization Of Natural Pancratium Maritimum L. Populations By Dna Markers, Ceren Eli̇bol, Behi̇ye Banu Bi̇lgen

Turkish Journal of Botany

Bulbous plants play an important role in Turkey's biodiversity due to their great potential use in various industries. Sea daffodils (Pancratium maritimum), one aspect of Turkey's biological richness, represent an important bulbous plant that generally spreads on sand dunes and can be seen only on the Mediterranean coast and on its certain beaches in our country. In this study, the genetic structure and genetic diversity of four natural P. maritimum populations have been determined by RAPD and nrSSR primers. Eight RAPD and four nrSSR loci were analyzed. All RAPD and nrSSR loci, except SSR-20, were found to be polymorphic. Genetic …
