Saxe uses multi-voxel pattern analysis (MVPA) in her research to study spatial neural responses in the right temporo-parietal junction (RTPJ) of the human brain and studies neural differences in the brain that allow non-autism spectrum disorder (neurotypical) adults to ascribe intentionality behind the actions of other individuals. Throughout her scientific career, Martha McClintock has advanced current understanding of pheromone-induced behavior by generating theories and evidence through numerous reputable experiments. Discovering the biological foundation of menstrual synchrony and other pheromone induced physiological responses has opened doors for further research examining the effects of specific pheromones. Martha McClintock is a biopsychologist who specializes in social behavior and the regulation of fertility. It is through her pioneering work that menstrual synchrony amongst social groups of females was discovered to be a result of human pheromonal interactions. During McClintock’s undergraduate work at Wellesley College, she observed that menstrual synchrony was a common phenomenon between her dorm mates and herself (1). Current medications and therapies only help alleviate symptoms, but physical therapy (PT) can be a promising treatment option for MS patients to increase quality of life. Headache pain affects a large portion of the population and significantly reduces quality of life. Stress has been implicated as a cause in many headache disorders, and this study investigates how stressful events affect subjects with chronic headache pain. Ten days after a stressful event, there was a significant change in perceived headache pain, though pain increased for some and decreased for others. Stress-related release of the hormone thyroxine may be a mediator for chronic pain states.

Recent research in neuroscience and psychology has suggested significant differences in sexual arousal between genders. In this review, the neuroscience evidence for gender differences in sexual arousal is investigated and current psychological theories of human sexuality are compared to current experimental results. Modern research demonstrates females have greater variation in sexual desires and behaviors than males, so new directions are needed in research to fully assess and understand the neural pathways of human sexual arousal.

Cerebral palsy is a highly prevent motor disorder that is well studied but not necessarily well understood. Caused through various damaged neural mechanisms, cerebral palsy has wide spread implications on both physiological and psychological health. Through use of both occupational and constraint-induced therapy, improvements in motor movements can be seen but the issue of psychology well being is not addressed. The author argues for the use of longitudinal studies in order to better understand the impact of various therapeutic methods.

Forkhead domain family of transcription factors (Foxp) are important in the control of neural stem cell maintenance and differentiation within the developing spinal cord. The aim of the current study is to identify regions of the mouse brain that express FOXP2, FOXP4, and FOXP1 genes at embryonic and post-natal stages. It is hypothesized that the expression pattern in the brain will be similar to that in the spinal cord. Confocal microscopy was used to visualize fluorescent antibody tags on the target proteins.
