The Geophytic Flora Of Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey, İsmai̇l Eker, Mehmet Koyuncu, Hasan Akan

This study was carried out between 2001 and 2004 to determine the geophytic flora of Şanlıurfa, located within C6, C7, and C8 of the grid system in Turkey. In all, 789 plant specimens that consisted of 104 taxa belonging to 13 families and 30 genera were gathered from the investigation area. Of all the collected specimens, 19 taxa were new records for C6, C7, and C8, and 11 taxa were endemic to Turkey. Scilla mesopotamica Speta, which was first collected from Şanlıurfa-Halfeti in 1888 by Sintenis and was considered a missing species, was rediscovered after 116 years during this study. …

Verbascum Samniticum Ten. (Scrophulariaceae): A New Record For The Flora Of Turkey, Gülden Yilmaz, Feruzan Dane

Verbascum samniticum Ten. (Scrophulariaceae) is recorded for the first time for the flora of Turkey with the specimen collected from A1(E) Kırklareli. A description of the species and descriptive illustrations are given based on the collected specimen. Its relationship with V. phlomoides L. is discussed.

Paris quadrifolia L. (Liliaceae) was collected from Northeast Anatolia (A9 Ardahan). It is reported for the first time from Turkey. Line drawings, diagnostic characters and a distribution map of Paris L. species of Turkey are presented.

In this study, 3 new species and 1 new genus were recorded for the first time and added to the list of Turkish Myxomycetes. These new records are Dictydiaethalium Rostaf. with Dictydiaethalium plumbeum (Schumach.) Rostaf. ex Lister, Didymium melanospermum (Pers.) T. Macbr., and Symphytocarpus impexus Ing & Nann.-Bremek.

The Flora Of Balıkdamı Wetland And Its Surroundings (Sivrihisar, Eskişehir - Turkey), Onur Koyuncu, Ebru Ataşlar, Süleyman Tokur, Meltem Erdi̇r Erten, Murat Ardiç

The present study involves the flora of Balıkdamı Wetland and its surroundings in Sivrihisar, Eskişehir, Turkey. This 2-year study (2002-2003) examined the plant samples collected in this region and determined that there are 51 families, as well as 250 taxa belonging to 173 genera (247 species, 1 subspecies, and 2 varieties). All of these taxa belong to the Angiosperms (201 Dicotyledons, 49 Monocotyledons) subdivision. The largest families are Brassicaceae (31), Poaceae (29), and Fabaceae (25) in terms of the number of species and subspecies included. In this study, comparative morphological, anatomical and palynological studies of Stachys L. sect. Ambleia Bentham species (Lamiaceae) in Turkey are carried out on the plants collected from their type localities. These species are Stachys cydni Kotschy ex Gemici & Leblebici and S. yildirimlii M. Dinç, which are highly local endemics. Morphologically, micromorphological features of the trichomes are studied. Trichome morphology appears to have a taxonomic value with respect to the results. Vascular Flora Of Forest Vegetation In Altındere Valley (Maçka-Trabzon), Alper Uzun, Sali̇h Terzi̇oğlu

The vascular flora of forest vegetation in Altındere Valley (Maçka-Trabzon) was investigated. The study was conducted between 2001 and 2002, during which time 1200 plant samples were collected. In all, 383 vascular taxa belonging to 246 genera and 84 families were identified. The richest family was Asteraceae (35, 9.1%), followed by Lamiaceae (27, 7.0%) and Fabaceae (23, 6.0%). Additionally, the richest genus was Campanula L. (7, 1.82%), followed by Trifolium L. (6, 1.56%) and Acer L. (6, 1.56%). The phytogeographical regions of 209 (54.56%) taxa were determined. This research was carried out from 2004 to 2006 in order to determine the flora of the region between Zeytinbahçe and Akarçay, Birecik district. The research area is situated in Şanlıurfa province and within C7 of the grid system. In the area, 442 taxa belonging to 62 families and 253 genera were determined. Of all the collected specimens, 30 taxa are new records for the C7 square, 16 (3.59%) taxa are endemic for Turkey, 2 taxa belong to Cryptogamae, and 440 taxa belong to Phanerogamae. Gagea sivasica Hamzaoğlu (Liliaceae) is described as a new species from Sivas province (Central Anatolia, Turkey). A Latin diagnosis, a taxonomic description, an illustration of the new species, and some comments on geographical distribution and its affinity to Gagea chlorantha Schult.f. are given.

The present study is concerned with the flora of the Kalabak Basin, an area lying to the south-west of the city of Eskişehir that supplies Eskişehir with drinking water. As a result of our evaluation of the plant specimens collected over 3 years (2001 to 2003), 71 families, as well as 575 taxa belonging to 307 genera, were determined to occur in the study area (569 species, 3 subspecies, and 3 varieties). Quillworts or Çim Eğreltisi, species of the genus Isoetes L. in Turkey and the Levant, are poorly studied despite extensive floristic studies in the region. The Flora of Turkey lists 4 taxa: Isoetes olympica A.Braun (2n = 22), I. histrix Bory var. histrix (2n = 20), I. subinermis (Bory) Cesca & Peruzzi [=I. histrix Bory var. subinermis Durieu (2n = 22)] and I. duriei Bory (2n = ca. 121).
