Its female capitula are in the axils of the upper leaves in its original description, but some of our specimens have only female capitula (female capitula in terminal racemes and lower parts of the racemes bracteate, but upper parts ebracteate) and there are many glands particularly on the tops of their fruits. The diagnostic characteristics, ecology …

The seven species of Salvia L. growing naturally in West Anatolia (Salvia tomentosa Mill., Salvia fruticosa Mill., Salvia smyrnaea Boiss., Salvia argentea L., Salvia horminum L., Salvia verbenaca L., and Salvia virgata Jacq.) and a cultivated form (Salvia officinalis L.) were selected as the study materials. The phenolic compounds extracted from the leaves of the species were separated by two- dimensional thin-layer chromatography. On the basis of the distribution of phenolic spots in the species, the matching coefficients and the coefficient of similarity were calculated in order to determine the relationship between the species. As a result of the group …

According to FisherÕs test, four of these characters which belong to fruit morphology had a difference of 95 %. Each group was diagnosed and were found to belong to L. squarrosa, L. barbata and L. microcarpa. The specimens were hydrolyzed in hydrochloric acid and were extracted with isoamyl alcohol, ethanol and ethylacetate. …

Ecological Wood Anatomy Of Turkish Rhododendron L. (Ericaceae). Intraspecific Variation, Nesi̇me Merev, Hakki Yavuz

Turkish Journal of Botany

The intraspecific relationships of selected wood anatomical characters such as altitude, stem diameter, stem age and average annual ring width were investigated in five different Turkish Rhododendron L. species. Rhododendron luteumSweet. grows at an altitude of 110 to 2230 m, R. ungerniiTrautv. 900 to 2020 m, R. smirnoviiTrautv. 1600 to 2230 m, R. caucasicumPallas 1900 to 3100 m, and R. ponticumL. from sea level to 2230 m in the Eastern Black Sea Region. Although the degree of significance varies between species, correlation and multiple regression analysis indicated a significant correlation between wood anatomical characters and non-anatomical factors.
