Molecular Phylogeny And Divergence Times Estimates Of Lilium Section Liriotypus (Liliaceae) Based On Plastid And Nuclear Ribosomal Its Dna Sequence Data, Nursel İki̇nci̇

Turkish Journal of Botany

In the present study the phylogeny and the biogeography of the genus Lilium L. section Liriotypus Asch. et Graebn. were investigated and divergence times for the section Liriotypus were calculated. The study group covers Lilium species from Europe, the Italian and Balkan peninsulas, Anatolia, and the Caucasus. Plastid DNA sequence data (the trnC-petN intergenic spacer and petN gene) and nuclear DNA ITS sequence data were used to infer the phylogenetic history of the section Liriotypus. Molecular phylogenetic dating using the molecular clock hypothesis with sequences of nrDNA ITS region was used to calculate the time of diversification within the section …

Pollen Morphology Of The Genus Fritillaria L. (Liliaceae) In Turkey, Mehtap Tekşen, Zeki̇ Aytaç, Nur Münevver Pinar Jan 2010

Pollen Morphology Of The Genus Fritillaria L. (Liliaceae) In Turkey, Mehtap Tekşen, Zeki̇ Aytaç, Nur Münevver Pinar

Turkish Journal of Botany

Pollen grains of 39 taxa of the genus Fritillaria L. in Turkey were examined by light and scanning electron microscopy. Detailed pollen morphological characteristics are given for these taxa. Our investigation shows that the sculpturing of the exine provides valuable characters for separating species. In particular, sculpturing of the exine at the proximal face turned out to be taxonomically important. Six types of ornamentation were determined: reticulate, reticulate-perforate, suprareticulate, rugulate-reticulate, psilate-perforate, and perforate. On the basis of exine sculpturing, the sulcus membrane, and the apex sulcus, 5 main pollen types are recognised.

Ornithogalum Nurdaniae (Liliaceae), A New Species From North-West Anatolia, Turkey, Yavuz Bağci, Ahmet Savran, İsa Başköse

Turkish Journal of Botany

Ornithogalum nurdaniae Y.Bağcı & Savran sp. nov. (Liliaceae), a new species related to O. oligophyllum E.D.Clarke, is described and illustrated from Uludağ (the Bithynian Olympus), a mountain in NW Anatolia well known for its rich flora and many local endemics (A2 Bursa province). Diagnostic morphological characters are discussed. Notes are also presented on the ecology, biogeography, and conservation status of the new species.

Paris Quadrifolia L. (Liliaceae): A New Record For The Flora Of Turkey, Sali̇h Terzi̇oğlu, Kami̇l Coşkunçelebi̇, Emi̇n Zeki̇ Başkent

Turkish Journal of Botany

Paris quadrifolia L. (Liliaceae) was collected from Northeast Anatolia (A9 Ardahan). It is reported for the first time from Turkey. Line drawings, diagnostic characters and a distribution map of Paris L. species of Turkey are presented.

A New Species Of Gagea Salisb. (Liliaceae) From Sivas (Central Anatolia, Turkey), Ergi̇n Hamzaoğlu, Ümi̇t Budak, Ahmet Aksoy Jan 2008

A New Species Of Gagea Salisb. (Liliaceae) From Sivas (Central Anatolia, Turkey), Ergi̇n Hamzaoğlu, Ümi̇t Budak, Ahmet Aksoy

Turkish Journal of Botany

Gagea sivasica Hamzaoğlu (Liliaceae) is described as a new species from Sivas province (Central Anatolia, Turkey). A Latin diagnosis, a taxonomic description, an illustration of the new species, and some comments on geographical distribution and its affinity to Gagea chlorantha Schult.f. are given.

A New Record From Lebanon: Scilla Siberica Haw. Subsp. Armena (Grossh.) Mordak (Liliaceae), Ricardus M. Haber, Myrna T. Semaan

Turkish Journal of Botany

Scilla siberica Haw. subsp. armena (Grossh.) Mordak (Liliaceae) has not been previously reported among the flora of Lebanon. In spring 2005 it was collected from the rocky cliffs of a natural rocky bridge in the high mountain zone of the Mount Lebanon Range.

A Morphological Investigation Of Colchicum L. (Liliaceae) Species In The Mediterranean Region In Turkey, Olcay Di̇nç Düşen, Hüseyi̇n Sümbül Jan 2007

A Morphological Investigation Of Colchicum L. (Liliaceae) Species In The Mediterranean Region In Turkey, Olcay Di̇nç Düşen, Hüseyi̇n Sümbül

Turkish Journal of Botany

The morphological features of Colchicum L. species were studied based on samples collected from the Mediterranean region in Turkey between 2000 and 2004. Typifications, synonym lists, descriptions, ecology, and phytogeography are provided for all Colchicum species and relationships to similar species are discussed. New features were determined that were not previously given in descriptions of Colchicum species in the Flora of Turkey, and useful identification keys (for both flowering material and leafing-fruiting material) were prepared for all Colchicum species in the Mediterranean region of Turkey.

Check-List Of The Genus Colchicum In The Flora Of Turkey, Hasan Akan, İsmai̇l Eker

Turkish Journal of Botany

A check-list of the genus Colchicum L. in the Flora Turkey is presented, with 36 taxa. A list of taxonomical changes that have occurred since the publication of the Flora of Turkey suppl. II is given. Twenty-seven of them are autumn-flowering species (28 taxa), whereas 8 of them are early-spring species. Thirty-five species (36 taxa) are presented, of which 15 are endemic to Turkey.
