A New Species Of Teucrium Sect. Stachyobotrys (Lamiaceae) From The South Of Turkey, Meci̇t Vural, Hayri̇ Duman, Tuncay Di̇rmenci̇, Taner Özcan

A new species of Teucrium L., Teucrium aladagense Vural & H.Duman, is described from Aladağ mountain, located in Adana, Kayseri, and Niğde provinces in Turkey. The species belongs to Teucrium L. sect. Stachyobotrys Benth. A description, distribution map, habitat, information on trichome morphology, and the threatened category of the species are provided. The differences between the new species and its allies T. lamiifolium d'Urv s.l. and T. hircanicum L. are discussed, and an identification key is provided for the identification of similar taxa.

A New Variety Of Bromus (Poaceae) From Turkey: Bromus Psammophilus Var. Robustus Var. Nova, Hali̇l Çakan, Hildemar Scholz

Bromus psammophilus P.M.Sm., a rare endemic species, was known only from the type collection on the coastal dunes of Çukurova Delta (Adana, Turkey). Specimens belonging to the new and typical varieties of this taxon were collected from sand dunes and dune slacks where the type specimen was collected the first time. Bromus psammophilus var. robustus Çakan & H.Scholz was described as a new variety; in examination of the newly collected specimens, it differs from the typical variety by its longer spikelets, higher flower numbers in spikelets, and glabrous glumes.

Flora Of The Natural Conservation Area In Adana-Yumurtalık Lagoon (Turkey), Haşi̇m Altinözlü

This study includes the natural and cultivated plants in the Natural Conservation Area in Yumurtalık Lagoon. In an evalution of 450 herbarium specimens collected from this area in 1997 and 1998, a total of 186 genera and 234 species belonging to 65 families were identified: 223 of the 234 species are natural and 11 are cultivated. Three of the 234 taxa are endemics (1.3%), 26 taxa (11.6%) are Mediterranean elements, 13 taxa (5.8%) are East Mediterranean elements, 6 taxa (2.6%) are Irano-Turanian elements, 5 taxa (2.2%) are Euro-Siberian elements, and 1 taxon (0.4%) is a Hyrcano-Euxine element.
