Traditionally, we irrigate using overhead sprinklers and/or flood irrigation. However, these methods can be wasteful, and so a way to conserve and still have a healthy garden is to use drip irrigation. It can reduce water use by up to about 50%. This fact sheet reviews water recommendations for growing vegetables.

This guide provides a list of vegetable crop diseases that have been documented in Utah along with some that are likely to occur. Plant diseases are caused by pathogens such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, and fungal-like organisms. Diagnosing specific plant diseases takes careful observation of signs, symptoms, and sometimes culturing and molecular testing in a laboratory setting.

There are so many vegetable varieties available, how do you select good ones for the home garden? Which ones are adapted and grow well in my area? This bulletin gives you some answers to these questions. It lists some of the better vegetable varieties for Utah. Since varieties vary in disease resistance and maturity characteristics, it is important to select ones that are adapted to our area. Should I grow a hybrid? Does it have disease resistance? When will it mature. What things should I think about before planting the garden?
