Syntaxonomic Analysis Of Forests, Shrubs, And Steppes Of Tavşan Mountain(Amasya, Turkey), Cengi̇z Yildirim, Erkan Yalçin, Arzu Cansaran, Hasan Korkmaz

Turkish Journal of Botany

The aim of this study is to reveal the syntaxonomical structure of Tavşan Mountain in the Euxinian transition area in northern Turkey. Eight plant associations were determined and classified using the Braun?Blanquet phytosociological approach. Detrended correspondence analysis was also used to reveal the environmental heterogeneity among the plant associations. Raunkiaer life form ratios of syntaxa were calculated. Shannon?Wiener index values also were determined for each plant association. The results of this study suggested that which environmental factors could be decisive in community diversity and syntaxonomical status.

Classification Of Plant Communities Along Postfire Succession In Pinus Brutia (Turkish Red Pine) Stands In Antalya (Turkey), Ali̇ Kavgaci, Urban Silc, Sai̇me Başaran, Aleksander Marinsek, Mehmet Ali̇ Başaran, Petra Kosir, Nesli̇han Balpinar, Münevver Arslan, Özge Ergüler, Andraz Carni

Turkish Journal of Botany

The paper deals with the classification of plant communities that appear along postfire succession of Pinus brutia forests (Turkish red pine). The research took place in the Antalya region in the southern part of Turkey. Samplings were performed in nine areas, with different periods after fire: 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 12, 20, 40 years, and a mature forest with an estimated age of 60 years. Numerical classification and ordination analysis were used to determine the communities and to understand the temporal changes. The vegetation classification showed that separate plant communities can be distinguished along the succession line. It was …

Syntaxonomical Analysis Of The Riparian Vegetation Of The Porsuk River (Eskişehir-Kütahya/Turkey), Ebru Özdeni̇z, Lati̇f Kurt, Erwin Bergmeier Jan 2017

Syntaxonomical Analysis Of The Riparian Vegetation Of The Porsuk River (Eskişehir-Kütahya/Turkey), Ebru Özdeni̇z, Lati̇f Kurt, Erwin Bergmeier

Turkish Journal of Botany

This study is about the classification and syntaxonomic allocation of the riparian vegetation of the Porsuk River (Eskişehir-Kütahya, western part of Central Anatolia). The Porsuk is part of the Sakarya River basin and is the longest tributary of the Sakarya River. The data were collected using the phytosociological method of Braun-Blanquet and analyzed using TWINSPAN classification and NMDS ordination. Ten syntaxa were identified, all of which are more or less widespread in the nemoral and meridional zone. The woody alluvial vegetation of the study area comprises the associations Salicetum albae, Populetum albae, and Elymo-Rubetum caesii. The riparian reed bed vegetation …

Numerical Classification And Ordination Of The Floodplain Forests In The Euxine Region Of Turkey, Ali̇ Kavgaci, Erkan Yalçin, Hasan Korkmaz Jan 2016

Numerical Classification And Ordination Of The Floodplain Forests In The Euxine Region Of Turkey, Ali̇ Kavgaci, Erkan Yalçin, Hasan Korkmaz

Turkish Journal of Botany

In this study, the phytosociological structure of floodplain forests in the Euxine region of Turkey was examined from a large-scale perspective. For this goal, all of the published relevés were analyzed using the numerical classification and ordination techniques, which are widely used in phytosociological studies all over the world. In summary, a syntaxonomical scheme for floodplain forests with 11 communities (five associations and one alliance were newly identified) was suggested as follows: Fraxino angustifoliae - Ulmetum laevis Slavi 1952 allerietosum petiolatae Kavgacı et al. Subass. Nov. Hoc loco; Fraxino angustifoliae - Ulmetum laevis Slavi 1952 junglandetosum regiae Kavgacı et al. …

Population Dynamics Of Parthenium Hysterophorus (Asteraceae) And Its Biological Suppression Through Cassia Occidentalis (Caesalpiniaceae), Jai Knox, Disha Jaggi, Manoj Stephen Paul Jan 2011

Population Dynamics Of Parthenium Hysterophorus (Asteraceae) And Its Biological Suppression Through Cassia Occidentalis (Caesalpiniaceae), Jai Knox, Disha Jaggi, Manoj Stephen Paul

Turkish Journal of Botany

Phytosociological analysis performed over 2005 to 2009 revealed that Cassia occidentalis L. is a dominant species at 3 of 4 sites in Agra district, India, that were previously observed to be dominated by heavy populations of Parthenium hysterophorus L. In order to determine the role of biomolecular interaction, i.e. the allelopathic effect, if any, on this shift of floral pattern effects, aqueous shoot and root cold leachates were determined on seed germination, shoot cut bioassay, seedling bioassay, chlorophyll, nitrogen, and protein content of P. hysterophorus. A significant reduction in germination percentage, shoot cut bioassay, seedling bioassay, and chlorophyll of P. …

Forest Vegetation Of Karagöl-Sahara National Park Artvin-Turkey, Özgür Emi̇nağaoğlu, Rahi̇m Anşi̇n, Hamdi̇ Güray Kutbay

Turkish Journal of Botany

This investigation was carried out between 1997 and 2002 in order to research the forest vegetation of Karagöl-Sahara National Park (Artvin). This vegetation was studied according to the traditional Braun-Blanquet approach. A total of 114 quadrats were examined. In the area under review, forest vegetation is represented by Querco petraea-Piceetum orientalis ass. nov., Fraxinetosum angustifoliae subass. nov., Crataegetosum microphyllae subass. nov., Junipero oxycedri-Pinetum sylvestris ass. nov., Fago orientalis-Abietum nordmannianae ass. nov., Pino sylvestris-Piceetum orientalis ass. nov., Abieti nordmannianae-Piceetum orientalis ass. nov., Abieti nordmannianae-Pinetum sylvestris ass. nov., and Junipero communi-Pinetum sylvestris ass. nov. Seven associations and 2 subassociations are new syntaxa …

The High Mountain Vegetation Of Turkey - A State Of The Art Report, Including A First Annotated Conspectus Of The Major Syntaxa, Gerald Parolly Jan 2004

The High Mountain Vegetation Of Turkey - A State Of The Art Report, Including A First Annotated Conspectus Of The Major Syntaxa, Gerald Parolly

Turkish Journal of Botany

This contribution spotlights the present research on the (oreal) subalpine to subnival mountain vegetation of Turkey. It concisely compiles our present knowledge, which is very heterogeneous in geographical terms. The situation is comparatively good in NW and W Anatolia and the western half of the Taurus range, from where a first consolidation stage can be reported. By contrast, the E Taurus remains a largely unexplored area. The Pontic chains have hitherto attracted a few local researchers only, and those important pioneering accounts cover less than half of the vegetation types actually present. The results of the last years' field work …
