Heat stress is a lethal threat to chickens. This study investigated the protective effect of a Ginkgo biloba extract EGB761 against heat stress in chickens in vivo. A total of 200 one-day-old hens were separated randomly into control (Con), heat stress (HS), 0.1% EGB administration and heat stress (0.1% EGB+HS), 0.3% EGB administration and heat stress (0.3% EGB+HS), and 0.6% EGB administration and heat stress (0.6% EGB+HS) groups. After EGB761 administration for 45 days, ten chickens were selected randomly, assigned to one of the designated groups, and exposed to a one-time heat stress condition of 38 ± 1 °C for …

This study was undertaken to investigate the changes in the microbiological and sensorial attributes of fresh chicken carcasses immersed in decontamination solutions, followed by packaging in plastic bags in which decontamination solution was added during storage at 4 °C. The samples were taken on days 0, 3, 7, and 10 for microbiological and sensory attributes. Results showed that there was a limited antimicrobial effect on microbial flora in the treatment groups within the first 3 days of storage compared to the control group. However, the difference between the groups completely disappeared on days 7 and 10. The changes in the …

Infectious bronchitis (IB) is a notable disease of poultry flocks that results in economic loss. As a consequence of the presence of various IB virus (IBV) serotypes, control strategies, such as vaccination, should be replaced by provide broad protective immunity against the disease to date. Gram-positive enhancer matrix particles, or so-called bacterium like particles (BLPs), obtained from the bacterium Lactococcus lactis (L. lactis), have demonstrated an adjuvancy effect by providing demanding mucosal and humoral immune responses, as well as a protective cellular immunity whenever delivered admixed with a vaccine via intranasal or intraocular administration. In this study, for the first …
