The purpose of this experiment was to reduce the schedule of cut mum production by decreasing the number weeks of long days and supplementing the flowers with the plant hormone gibberellic acid (GA). GA is a plant hormone which enlarges the cells of the stems and could conceivably affect mum vegetative growth during long days. In this experiment, long days were reduced to 0, 3, 10, 13, 17 and 20.
