Weight Changes In Wild Wolves, Canis Lupus, From Ages 2 To 24 Months, L. David Mech
Weight Changes In Wild Wolves, Canis Lupus, From Ages 2 To 24 Months, L. David Mech
USGS Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center
Weights of 118 female and 141 male Minnesota Wolves (Canis lupus) aged 2-24 months increased almost linearly from about 8 kg for females and 10 kg for males at 3 months to 30 kg for females and 32 kg for males at 10-12 months and then tended to increase much more slowly in an overall curvilinear trend. Considerable variation was apparent for both sexes during their first year.
The Effect Of Concentrate- And Silage-Based Finishing Diets On The Growth Performance And Carcass Characteristics Of Suffolk Cross And Scottish Blackface Lambs, Muhammad Iqbal Mustafa, John P. Chadwick, Pervez Akhtar, Safdar Ali, Muhammad Lateef, Javed Iqbal Sultan
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In the present study 48 Suffolk x Mule (S x M) and 48 Scottish Blackface (SBF) wether lambs were used in a 2 breeds x 2 diets x 4 replications factorial experiment with 6 lambs per pen. Lambs were offered either a concentrate (CONC) finishing diet (DM: 876 g kg^{-1}, estimated ME: 10.9 MJ kg^{-1} of DM, estimated DUP: 32.4 g kg{-1} of DM) ad libitum, together with 100 g hay head^{-1} day^{-1}, or silage (SIL) offered ad libitum (D value: 67.2), together with up to 450 g head^{-1}day^{-1}of a concentrate supplement (DM: 888 g kg^{-1}, estimated ME: 10.9 MJ …
Growth And Reproduction Properties Of Capoeta Trutta (Heckel,1843) In Karakaya Dam Lake, Ercan Kalkan
Growth And Reproduction Properties Of Capoeta Trutta (Heckel,1843) In Karakaya Dam Lake, Ercan Kalkan
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this study, 510 samples of Capoeta trutta living in Karakaya Dam Lake were studied. After determining sex distribution, size (length and weight), growth rates, and growth conditions factors of 210 C. trutta specimens were examined. The number of female and male specimens was 104 and 106, respectively. The age of females and males ranged between 1-7 and 0-7 years, respectively. The age-length, age-weight, and length-weight curves were constructed. According to the von Bertalanffy equation, females and males were: L_t = 89.5[1-e^{-0.0571(t+2.4138))}], W_t = 9627.1[1-e^{0.0571(t+2.4238))}]^{3.0325} L_t = 76.4[1-e^{-0.0604(t+2.6514))}], W_t = 5207.2[1-e^{0.0604(t+2.6514))}]^{2.9322}, respectively . The calculated length-weight relation (W) was 0.0116 …
Growth, Mortality, And Reproduction Of Poor Cod (Trisopterus Minutus Linn., 1758) In The Central Aegean Sea, Gülnur Meti̇n, Akin Türker İlkyaz, Hasan Tuncay Kinacigi̇l
Growth, Mortality, And Reproduction Of Poor Cod (Trisopterus Minutus Linn., 1758) In The Central Aegean Sea, Gülnur Meti̇n, Akin Türker İlkyaz, Hasan Tuncay Kinacigi̇l
Turkish Journal of Zoology
A total of 1527 of poor cod (Trisopterus minutus Linn., 1758) were collected by trawl hauls between April 2001 and March 2002 from İzmir Bay (central Aegean Sea). The size of the fish (total length) ranged from 10.6 cm (minimum, September) and 24.8 cm (April). The population was composed of 53% males, 41% females, and 6% immature individuals, with a female to male ratio of 1:1.3. The age composition of the samples was from I to V. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L_{\infinity} = 28.1 cm, W_{\infinity} = 254.0 g, K = 0.26 y^{-1}, and t_{o} = -1.52 y. …

Age And Growth Characteristics Of Himri Barbel (Barbus Luteus Heckel, 1843) In Orontes River, Turkey, Kaya Gökçek, İhsan Akyurt
Turkish Journal of Zoology
In this study, the age and growth of Himri Barbel (Barbus luteus Heckel, 1843) were determined based on specimens collected from Orontes River-Turkey, during the period from February 2004 to January 2005. This population comprised 7 age groups of males and 9 of females. The male and female ratio was 1:1.26 (M:F). Total length-weight relationship was estimated as W = 0.0129TL^{2.986} for females, W = 0.0125TL^{3.003} for males. Growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were computed for females and males as: L_{infinite}= 38.77, W_{infinite}= 714.23, k = 0.300, t_0 = -1.69 and L_{infinite}= 40.32, W_{infinite}= 819.35, k = 0.247, …
Effects Of Probiotics And Yeast Culture On Rumen Development And Growth Of Dairy Calves, Jennifer Marie Laborde
Effects Of Probiotics And Yeast Culture On Rumen Development And Growth Of Dairy Calves, Jennifer Marie Laborde
LSU Master's Theses
Forty-eight calves (heifers n=20, bulls n=28) were randomly assigned one of four dietary treatments which included no additive (C); the yeast culture Saccharomyces cerevisiae (YC); the probiotics Bacillus lichenformis and Bacillus subtilis (P); and both yeast culture and probiotics (YCP). Calves were administered treatments from day 2 to 56 in starter and from day 57 to 84 in grower diets. Body weights were measured at birth and weekly thereafter until day 112 of age. Wither and hip heights were measured weekly. Feed intake, water intake, and fecal scores were recorded twice daily until day 56. Rumen fluid was collected on …
