The Effects Of Toxic Aluminium And Low Ph On Gill Development Of Rainbow Trout ( Oncorhynchus Mykiss, Walbaum) Larvae., Meti̇n Çalta

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, the gill development of rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum) larvae exposed to toxic aluminium (200 ?g/L), those exposed low pH (4.5) alone and those exposed to both for 30 days were investigated under scanning electron microscopy. General appearance of gills, filament and lamella lengths and the number of lamellae per filament were determined in order to evaluate the effects of these toxicants on gill development. In addition, the death rates and general conditions of larvae were observed. In larvae exposed to low pH alone and in those exposed to aluminium alone, a slight thickness in the …

Changes In The Whole Body Mineral Concentration Of The Rainbow Trout (Oncorchynchus Mykisswalbaum) Yolk-Sac Fry Exposed To Various Combinations Of Aluminium And Calcium Concentrations In Two Different Acidic Water, Meti̇n Çalta Jan 1999

Changes In The Whole Body Mineral Concentration Of The Rainbow Trout (Oncorchynchus Mykisswalbaum) Yolk-Sac Fry Exposed To Various Combinations Of Aluminium And Calcium Concentrations In Two Different Acidic Water, Meti̇n Çalta

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The effects of 12 combinations of pH (4.5 and 7.0), aluminium (4 and 8 ?mol/L) and calcium (10 and 100 \mumol/L) on survival and body mineral (Ca, Mg, K and Na) concentrations of rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykissWalbaum) at the yolk-sac stage were investigated. Mortality was low (< 17%) in most combinations and increased (> 27%) in the presence of aluminium and low pH (4.5). Aluminium (4 and 8 ?mol/L) impaired larval development, net uptake of calcium, potassium and sodium, and slightly increased the net loss of magnesium. It was found that these effects of aluminium were more severe at low calcium concentration (10 ?mol/L) and low …

Growth Performance, Food Intake And Feed Converison Ratios In Rainbow (Onchorynchus Mykiss) And Brook Trout (Salvelinus Fontinalis) Reared As A Single And Mixed Species, İbrahi̇m Okumuş, M. Sali̇h Çeli̇kkale, İlker Zeki̇ Kurtoğlu, Nadi̇r Başçinar Jan 1999

Growth Performance, Food Intake And Feed Converison Ratios In Rainbow (Onchorynchus Mykiss) And Brook Trout (Salvelinus Fontinalis) Reared As A Single And Mixed Species, İbrahi̇m Okumuş, M. Sali̇h Çeli̇kkale, İlker Zeki̇ Kurtoğlu, Nadi̇r Başçinar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Growth performances, daily food consumption and feed conversion ratios of rainbow (Onchorynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) reared as single and mixed species were compared. During the experimental period, which lasted for about a growing season (December - June, 217 days), mean % weight increment of single species brook trout group were maximum (from 18.2 to 165.6 g), followed by mixed rainbow (26.8 to 241.6 g) and brook trout (17.0 to 151.8 g), and single species rainbow trout (27.5 to 207.6 g). Rates of increment in biomass were in similar order. Final mean weights of single species brook trout …

Economical Analysis Of Replacing Slaughterhouse Byproduct Meals In Salmonid (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) Fry Diets, Telat Yanik, M. Sitki Aras Jan 1999

Economical Analysis Of Replacing Slaughterhouse Byproduct Meals In Salmonid (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) Fry Diets, Telat Yanik, M. Sitki Aras

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The possibilities of replacing slaughterhouse byproduct meals (blood meal, poultry-by products, meat and bone meal) into menhaden fish meal in salmonid (rainbow trout fry) diets were economically analyzed in this study. Fish meal levels of diets were balanced as 30% and 45%, and 10 test diets with average 34% (first five diets) and 41% (last five diets) protein and about 3500 kcal/kg metabolic energy were made by replacing 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% slaughterhouse byprolucts into these categories of fish meal. As a control feed, a commercial feed with 55% protein (min.) and 2900 kcal ME/kg was used. Rainbow …

The Effect Of Water Current On Nutrient Components Of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss), Mehmet Çeli̇k, Mahmut Yanar Jan 1999

The Effect Of Water Current On Nutrient Components Of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss), Mehmet Çeli̇k, Mahmut Yanar

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In this study, the effects of water current on nutrient components of trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were investigated. One year old fish averaging 550±0.06 g were used in the experiment which lasted for 3 months. In the experiment, the fish were reared in two tank of 1800 l each in the first tank (group A), water current was 1.5-2 fish length (25 cm)/sn while in the second tank (group B) there was no water current. In group A while the fillets contained 68.89±1.47 % dry matter, 19.71±0.66 % protein, 9.91±1.81 % lipit, the fillet of group B had 69.32±1.15 % dry …
