Karyological, morphological, bacular and phallic aspects of Prometheomys schaposchnikowi were examined based on 22specimens collected in Ardanuç and Ardahan. The diploid number of chromosomes is 2n=56, the number of autosomal arms isNFa=100, and the fundamental number is NF=104, the X chromosome is a large submetacentric, and the Y chromosome is thesmallest metacentric. In adults, sagittal crest begins in frontal region, ends in parietal region into two parts. The phallus is covered with spines. The length of phallus is 15.94 mm in average. The median part of distal baculum is 1.51 in length. Proximal baculum is 3.74 mm in length.

A Taxonomic Study On The Fish In The Basin Of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake, Müfi̇t Özuluğ

This study was carried out to determine the fish fauna of the basin of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake and to study the taxonomic characteristics of the fish present. As a result of examined the 586 specimens collected between April 1995 and September 1997, it was revealed that 23 fish species, including 4 subspecies, belonging to 10 families, were found in the basin of Büyükçekmece Dam Lake. This paper gives the diagnostic characteristics of these fish.

The morphological characteristics and distribution of Vipera ammodytes transcaucasiana, which is a member of the Vipera kaznakovi group, were studied. The transcaucasian horned viper specimens were captured from Murgul, Artvin, in Turkey. This species differs from all other vipers in the Near and Middle East in respect of its pronounced horn. It is similar to Vipera pontica in the greenish-yellowish tip of the tail, but differs in having more apicals.

The morphology of the parts of the venom apparatus and the histology of venom glands of the idiobiont solitary pupal endoparasitoid Pimpla turionellae(L.) were examined under microscope. There are two valvula 1, one valvula 2, two valvula 3, two valvifer 1, two valvifer 2, a Dufour's gland and a venom gland in the venom apparatus of P. turionellae. These structures were described and their characteristics were determined. Several venom gland tubules are attached to the reservoir at the top of the venom gland of P. turionellae. Morphological Investigation Of Rana Ridibunda (Anura: Ranidae) Populations In The Black Sea Region, Yusuf Kumlutaş, Murat Tosunoğlu, Bayram Göçmen

In this study, a total of 115 Rana ridibunda specimens (64 males ; 51 females) from the Black Sea region (10 localities) have been investigated. Morphometric measurements of the samples and some of their ratios derived from them comprise the morphological investigation together with pattern and coloration analyses. It was found that the populations examined belong to the nominal subspecies of R. r. ridibunda.

In this study, a total of 30 specimens (15 , 15 ) collected from Ihlara Valley were examined for their taxonomic characteristics. The Ihlara population was compared with two nearby populations (Kayseri and Karaman), which are included in the distribution range of Ophisops elegans centralanatoliae. When pholidosis, coloration and pattern features were taken into consideration it was concluded that the Ihlara population can be included in the species Ophisops elegans centralanatoliae.

In this study, 863 (446 males ; 417 females ) adults and 120 juvenile B.viridis specimens collected from various localities in Turkey were examined by morphological, osteological and serological methods. Our results did not establish any qualitative or quantitative differences which are significant between the populations examined. However the populations from the southern parts of Anatolia (Mersin, Adana, Antakya and Urfa) were found to be relatively different than those of the other regions of Turkey in colour and pattern. Twenty-six animals of the species Meriones tristrami Thomas, 1892 were studied morphologically. The animals were collected province of Diyarbakır-Turkey. The specimens were studied in respect to thier morphological characteristics in detail. The data obtained from the specimens were compared with the results of the previous studies. Results shows that the samples are Meriones tristrami Thomas,1892 which are living Diyarbakır province, in Turkey. Skins and skulls have been deposited at the Dicle University, Science & Art Faculty, Biology Department.

A Morphological Investigation On The Anuran Species Of The Reşadiye (Datça) Peninsula (Anura: Bufonidae, Hylidae, Ranidae), Cemal Varol Tok

In this survey the amphibian fauna of Reşadiye (Datça) Peninsula, which has not been studied in detail so far, is given. No urodelan species has been encountered during the present work; but the presence of four different species belonging to three anuran families is established. Bufo bufo, Bufo viridis, Hyla arborea and Rana ridibunda specimens were collected from two, five, three and six different localities respectively, establishing the status of the peninsula's anura fauna. A total of 125 adult and two juvenile specimens were studied morphologically. Some observations on the ecological and biological characteristics of the anurans are also given.

A study was carried out on morphology and seasonal distribution of myiasis flies in Elazığ and its districts (Sivrice, Kovancılar, Baskil and Salkaya) in 1994-1995. Putrified meat, liver and spleen pieces were used as baits to attract and congregate myiasis flies. In addition the baits were treated with Golden Malrin to kill the attracted flies for collection. Thus a total of 10440 myiasis flies were collected from the study sites. A study was conducted on external myiasis of livestock in Elazığ and its districts (Sivrice, Kovancılar, Baskil and Salkaya) in 1994-1995. Eight species of myiasis flies including Lucilia sericata, L. caesar, Calliphora vicina, C. vomitoria, Chrysomya albiceps, Wohlfahrtia magnifica, Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis and S. carnaria were determined and published seperately. In addition, morphological and biological characteristics of larvae of Lucilia sericata, Calliphora vicina, Wohlfahrtia magnifica and Sarcophaga haemorrhoidalis were investigated under laboratory conditions as well. The Taxonomic Status Of Triturus Vulgaris(Linnaeus, 1758) Populations In Western Anatolia, Turkey, Kurtuluş Olgun, İbrahi̇m Baran, Cemal Varol Tok

A total of 179 (97 males, 82 females) Triturus vulgaris specimens collected during the breeding season from Western Anatolia (Efes, Ayvacık, Lapseki, Karacabey, Gemlik) and European Turkey (Bolayır) was examined. The morphological and the statistical evaluations showed that the Western Anatolian (except Efes) and the Thrace populations are similar. The West Anatolian populations, therefore, should be included in the nominate subspecies, T.v. vulgaris. The Efes specimens were found to be different from specimens of Ayvacik, Lapseki and Gemlik especially in terms of body measurements.
