Investigation Of Three Different Lactation Models In Milk Yields Of Holstein Cows, Mehmet Nurullah Orman, Okan Ertuğrul Jan 1999

Investigation Of Three Different Lactation Models In Milk Yields Of Holstein Cows, Mehmet Nurullah Orman, Okan Ertuğrul

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The purpose of this study was to determine the best lactation curve. Data were collected from the dairy cattle breeding unit at Ceylanpinar State Farm. Three different lactation curve models (Wood, Schaeffer, Glasbey) were applied to all data. The values of the determination coefficients of three lactation curve models were estimated at 70.62-79.47%. Some negative estimated values were obtained during the estimation of parameters. These results were restricted by the hypothesis and were tested. All restrictions were accepted. Total actual and mature equivalent (ME, 2x3057) milk yields were estimated. Differences between the actual values of lactation milk yield, and the …

Monitoring And Comparing Follicular And Luteal Function Betweengenetically High- And Low-Producing Dairy Cows By Ultrasonography, Şükrü Meti̇n Pancarci Jan 1999

Monitoring And Comparing Follicular And Luteal Function Betweengenetically High- And Low-Producing Dairy Cows By Ultrasonography, Şükrü Meti̇n Pancarci

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The objectives of this study were to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasonography in monitoring ovarian activity by examining follicular growth and regression and studying the correlation between corpus luteum (CL) measurements and plasma progesterone (P4) concentrations, and to compare high-and low-production genetic lines of dairy cows regarding endogenous bovine somatotropin (bST) and milk production effects on follicular wave patterns, size and number of follicles, CL growth and plasma P4 concentrations during the estrous cycle monitored by ultrasound. Seventeen multiparous lactating Holstein cows were divided into two groups, a low-production group (control group, n=9) and a high-production group (select group, n=8). …

Effects Of Calving Season And Lactation Order On Milk Yield And Milk Components In Simmental Cows, Özel Şekerden Jan 1999

Effects Of Calving Season And Lactation Order On Milk Yield And Milk Components In Simmental Cows, Özel Şekerden

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The research was performed to investigate effects of calving season and lactation order on milk yield components and changing of milk components with lactation stage in Simmental cows. Milk samples were taken at AM milkings in 30±15^{th}, 90±15^{th}, 150±15^{th} and 210±15^{th} days of lactations. Lactation stages' effect was found significant level statistically on only the rate of total solid matter (TSM). Calving season's effect was found at significant level statistically on 305-day milk yield; fat, protein, TSM, casein rates and lactation yield of casein. Although lactation order's effect was significant on all the component rates and yields of lactation except …

Myiasis Cases And Their Treatments In Cows, Sheep And Goats In Elazığ Province, Cem Ecmel Şaki̇, Edi̇p Özer Jan 1999

Myiasis Cases And Their Treatments In Cows, Sheep And Goats In Elazığ Province, Cem Ecmel Şaki̇, Edi̇p Özer

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out on cows, sheep and goats in Salkaya Village, Kovancılar, Baskıl and Sivrice towns and in Elazığ during 1994 and 1995. Fifty two myiasis cases were detected throughout the study. Forty seven (90.38%) and 5 (9.62%) of the cases were determined in sheep and cows respectively, no myiasis case was encountered in goats. Twenty two (42.32%) of the cases were seen in June during 1994 and 1995, 10 (19.23%) in May, 9 (17.31%) in July, 8 (15.38%) in September and 3 (5.77%) in August. Identification of the collected larvae showed that 51 (98.08%) and 1 (1.92%) …

Investigation On Serum Ca And P Levels In Cows With Retained Placenta, Hali̇s Öcal, Yusuf Türköz, Hayretti̇n Çeti̇n, Erdal Kaygusuzoğlu, Ali̇ Ri̇şvanli, Cahi̇t Kalkan Jan 1999

Investigation On Serum Ca And P Levels In Cows With Retained Placenta, Hali̇s Öcal, Yusuf Türköz, Hayretti̇n Çeti̇n, Erdal Kaygusuzoğlu, Ali̇ Ri̇şvanli, Cahi̇t Kalkan

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was carried out to investigate serum Ca and P levels in 31 cows with retained placenta (RP) and 8 cows without RP (control group). The RP was observed following normal parturition in 21 cows (RPP), and the remaining 10 cows had RP after abortion (RPA). Serum Ca and P levels did not differ significantly between the cows with RP and the control group (p>0.05). When the cows with RP were subdivided into two groups as the cows with RPP and those with RPA; the difference in the levels of P between these groups and the control group …
