Developmental Differences Of Local Populations Of Alfalfa Weevil (Hypera Postica) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Ehsan Sanaei, Marjan Seiedy

Turkish Journal of Zoology

Many invasive insect pests show phenotypic variation between local populations across their geographical range. Understanding and integrating such differences will help to improve pest management. Population differences are the result of local adaptation to environmental conditions and may be detected using ecological analyses. Immature stages may represent especially interesting study objects as they represent important stages in the life cycle of insects and in many cases may be the most destructive stage. The alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica (Gyllenhal, 1813), is a variable worldwide pest that heavily damages alfalfa fields and is widely distributed in Iran. The lack of information about …

Terrestrial Isopods Of The Genus Protracheoniscus (Isopoda: Oniscidea) In Northern Iran With A Description Of Two New Species, Ghasem Mohammadi Kashani, Sara Hamidnia Jan 2016

Terrestrial Isopods Of The Genus Protracheoniscus (Isopoda: Oniscidea) In Northern Iran With A Description Of Two New Species, Ghasem Mohammadi Kashani, Sara Hamidnia

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In the present study, terrestrial isopods of the genus Protracheoniscus are investigated in northern Iran. Protracheoniscus ehsani Kashani, 2014 and P. Major (Dollfus, 1903) are found for the first time in the region. Two other species, P. Kiabii Kashani sp. Nov. And P. Golestanicus sp. Nov., are described as new. The diagnostic characters of the new species are illustrated and their distribution is presented on a map.

First Record Of The Family Proctotrupidae (Hymenoptera: Proctotrupoidea)From Iran, With Five New Species Records, Mohammad Izadizadeh, Ali Asghar Talebi, Victor A. Kolyada, Ehsan Rakhshani Jan 2016

First Record Of The Family Proctotrupidae (Hymenoptera: Proctotrupoidea)From Iran, With Five New Species Records, Mohammad Izadizadeh, Ali Asghar Talebi, Victor A. Kolyada, Ehsan Rakhshani

Turkish Journal of Zoology

This survey was conducted to investigate the occurrence of the family Proctotrupidae in Iran. The specimens were collected using Malaise traps from northern Iran during 2010 and 2011. The family Proctotrupidae (Hymenoptera: Proctotrupoidea) is recorded from Iran for the first time. Five species belonging to four genera were identified: Proctotrupes gravidator (Linnaeus, 1758); P. Brachypterus (Schrank, 1780); Cryptoserphus aculeator (Haliday, 1839); Disogmus obsoletus Brues, 1905; and Mischoserphus arcuator (Stelfox, 1950). All genera and species are new records for the fauna of Iran. An identification key for the genera of Proctotrupidae is provided.

An Update Note On Diversity And Conservation Of The Endemic Fishes In Iranian Inland Waters, Azad Teimori, Hossein Mostafavi, Hamid Reza Esmaeili Jan 2016

An Update Note On Diversity And Conservation Of The Endemic Fishes In Iranian Inland Waters, Azad Teimori, Hossein Mostafavi, Hamid Reza Esmaeili

Turkish Journal of Zoology

The diversity, distribution pattern, and conservation status of endemic species were obtained by analysis of catalogued specimens collected by fieldwork carried out by the authors at various times in different regions in Iran since 2002. The Iranian endemic ichthyofauna includes 51 species and forms a significant part of the total species known from this country, so that new endemic species are being described almost every year. The highest endemicity is found in the Tigris-Karoun basin in the west, followed by the Kor River and the Persian Gulf basins in the south. Creation of the landlocked basins played an important role …

Contribution To The Knowledge Of The Chrysididae (Hymenoptera, Aculeata)In The South Of Iran, With Nine New Records, Afrouz Farhad, Ali Asghar Talebi, Paolo Rosa, Yaghoub Fathipour, Hamidreza Hajiqanbar

Turkish Journal of Zoology

In this study, fourteen species and subspecies in six genera of the family Chrysididae are listed from Hormozgan Province of Iran. Among them, Hedychridium femoratum (Dahlbom, 1854); Hedychridium virescens (du Buysson, 1908); Hedychridium verhoeffi Linsenmaier, 1959; Holopyga arabica Linsenmaier, 1994; Holopyga vicissituda Linsenmaier, 1994; Spintharina dubai Bohart, 1987; S. İntegerrima (Klug, 1845); Trichrysis scioensis (Gribodo, 1879); and T. Longispina (Mocsáry, 1912) are recorded for the first time from Iran. Geographical distributions of all the species and morphological diagnostic characteristics of the newly recorded species are briefly discussed. The number of chrysidid species in Iran is now raised from 194 to …
