Grain Yield Production Of Sudan Grass (Sorghum Sudanense (Piper) Stapf) As Influenced By Cutting Numbers, Potassium Rates, And Intrarow Spacing In A Semiarid Environment, Ahmed Awad, Salah Hafiz, Mohammed Sabry Hammada, Azza El-Nouby, Salah El-Hendawy

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The seed scarcity of Sudan grass plagues the pasture industry in the livestock sector, especially in arid and semiarid regions. The current study was initiated to tackle this challenge. The study evaluates the response of the grain yield and yield components of Sudan grass to cutting numbers, potassium rates, and intrarow spacing over 2 years. A field experiment was conducted using a randomized complete block split-split design with 2 cutting numbers (no cutting and cut 1 time), 2 potassium rates (60 and 120 kg K_2O ha^{-1}), and 3 intrarow spacings (15, 20, and 25 cm between hills) as the main …

Comparison Of Hybrid Maize Obtained From Inbred Lines That Are Selected Via Top-Crossing And Discriminant Analysis, Ahmet Öz Jan 2012

Comparison Of Hybrid Maize Obtained From Inbred Lines That Are Selected Via Top-Crossing And Discriminant Analysis, Ahmet Öz

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This research was done at the Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute in Samsun, in 2006 and 2007. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of discriminant analysis in determining the parents among inbred lines in hybrid corn breeding. Grain yield and some yield components of the hybrid maize, which was obtained from inbred lines that were selected in accordance with top-crossing and discriminant analysis, was examined in the research. According to the average of 2 years, the average grain yield of 11 maize hybrids obtained via top-crossing was 9160 kg ha^{-1}, whereas the average grain yield of 8 maize …

Soybean Seed Yield Performances Under Different Cultural Practices, Mehmet Si̇nci̇k, Abdurrahi̇m Tanju Göksoy, Zeki̇ Meti̇n Turan Jan 2009

Soybean Seed Yield Performances Under Different Cultural Practices, Mehmet Si̇nci̇k, Abdurrahi̇m Tanju Göksoy, Zeki̇ Meti̇n Turan

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was carried out to investigate the yield response of 2 soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) cultivars to different planting dates and plant populations and to examine the relationships of seed yield with leaf area index (LAI) and total dry matter (TDM) during the vegetative and reproductive periods for planting dates, plant populations, and cultivars. Two soybean cultivars, A-3127 (early maturity group, MG-III) and 1530 (late maturity group, MG-IV), were planted in 2 planting dates; mid-April and mid-May during 2005 and 2006 at high (660,000 plant ha^{-1}) and low (330,000 plant ha^{-1}) plant populations. Plantings in mid-April increased seed …

Effect Of Different Planting Dates On Yield And Yield Components Of Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea L.), Öner Canavar, Mustafa Ali̇ Kaynak Jan 2008

Effect Of Different Planting Dates On Yield And Yield Components Of Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea L.), Öner Canavar, Mustafa Ali̇ Kaynak

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

This study was conducted in the experiment fields at the Field Crops Department of the Faculty of Agriculture at Adnan Menderes University in 2004-2005. The experiment was performed in a split-plot design with 3 replications. The goals of this study were to determine the appropriate planting date for peanut under the ecological conditions of Aydın and to investigate the effect of different planting dates on some agronomic traits, yield, and yield components of 3 commercial peanut cultivars (Gazipaşa, Florispan, and NC-7) and the local cultivar. It was determined that the planting date had a statistically significant effect on pod yield, …

Effects Of Seeding Rates On Yield And Yield Components Of Hungarian Vetch (Vicia Pannonica Crantz.), Ayşen Uzun, Uğur Bi̇lgi̇li̇, Mehmet Si̇nci̇k, Esvet Açikgöz Jan 2004

Effects Of Seeding Rates On Yield And Yield Components Of Hungarian Vetch (Vicia Pannonica Crantz.), Ayşen Uzun, Uğur Bi̇lgi̇li̇, Mehmet Si̇nci̇k, Esvet Açikgöz

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The effects of 4 seeding rates (20, 40, 80 and 160 kg ha^{-1}) on dry matter yield, seed yield and yield components were evaluated in 4 accessions (L46, L79, L457, Local) of Hungarian vetch (Vicia pannonica Crantz.) under fall seeding conditions during the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 crop years. Dry matter yield, plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, 1000- seed weight, biomass yield, seed yield and harvest index were measured. Based on the 2-year results, no significant differences were found among Hungarian vetch accessions in any of the measured characteristics with the exception of 1000- …

Correlation And Path Coefficient Analyses Of Seed Yield Components In The Narbon Bean (Vicia Narbonensis L.), Celal Yücel Jan 2004

Correlation And Path Coefficient Analyses Of Seed Yield Components In The Narbon Bean (Vicia Narbonensis L.), Celal Yücel

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The purpose of this research was to evaluate phenotypic correlation coefficents between seed yield per plant and some yield components, and to determine the direct and indirect effect of 6 components on seed yield per plant in narbon bean (Vicia narbonensis L.) lines. The research was conducted in the area of the Field Crops Research Training Center of the University of Çukurova, in Adana, Turkey, in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 crop years. The randomized complete blocks design with 3 replications was used. Positive and statistically significant (p

Correlation And Path Coefficient Analysis For Some Yield-Related Traits In Rice (Oryza Sativa L.) Under Thrace Conditions, Hali̇l Sürek, Necmi̇ Beşer

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry

The associations among yield components, and their direct and indirect influence on the grain yield of rice were investigated. For this purpose, 80 breeding lines derived from 11 different cross populations in the F_6 generation and their 10 parents were tested in a randomised complete block experiment design with two replications at the Thrace Agricultural Research Institute in 1995. According to the results from the first year, 49 breeding lines were selected, and they and their 10 parents were tested in a randomised complete block experiment design with three replications in the same institute in 1996. The phenotypic correlations among …
