Towards New Pedagogical Practices In Times Of Covid: Distance Education As A Mark Of Resilience In The Moroccan University, Abdelfettah Nacer Idrissi

BAU Journal - Society, Culture and Human Behavior

Affected, like most countries in the world, by the covid-19 pandemic which has affected all sectors of activity, Morocco has proposed, as part of a policy of prevention and anticipation. The measures including the objective is not only to limit the spread of covid but also and above all to ensure educational continuity and the transition from face-to-face teaching to distance learning. However, not having, like the majority of countries, a prior strategy to deal with this disaster situation, the concept of the resilience of education systems was not yet included in public policies. This fact did not prevent the …

From Governance To The Classroom: Rethinking Large-Scale School Reform To Improve Educational Opportunity And Equity, Benjamin M. Superfine Phd, Mark Paige Phd

Cleveland State Law Review

For decades, governmental institutions have focused on improving and equalizing the educational opportunities for students. Courts, legislatures, and chief executive officers at federal and state levels have spearheaded a range of large-scale educational reform efforts, including desegregation, school finance reform, educational improvement for students with disabilities, charter schools, and standards-based accountability systems. However, many assessments of these efforts reflect limited or mixed success. This Article takes a bird’s-eye view examination of not simply why a single type of educational reform has failed to reach its goals in a particular area, but instead at why such efforts have failed to reach …

Outside Tinker’S Reach: An Examination Of Mahanoy Area School District V. B. L. And Its Implications, Michelle Hunt

Northwestern Journal of Law & Social Policy

In the 1969 landmark case Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, the Supreme Court reassured students that they do not “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” Ever since then, the exact scope of students’ free speech rights has been unclear, but the high court has used Tinker’s substantial disruption test to clarify its scope in successive legal challenges. In 2017, B. L., a Mahanoy Area School District student, was suspended from her cheerleading team after using vulgar language off-campus that made its way back to her coaches. She …

The Book I Never Got To Read: A Tale Of Book Censorship, Courtney Everett

Emerging Writers

From the expression of authors to sharing perceptions of the world, the use of literature has been one of the most common ways of teaching students for generations. However, with opposing viewpoints and conflicting ideas, literary censorship has continued to become an issue among communities for longer than people realize, and it brings harm to humanity over time. This essay discusses the recent conflict of banning books in communities and its affect on students.
