The Black Law Students Association welcomes you to our Fall 2020 panel event, which focuses on the 2019 CROWN Act. The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” is a law that prohibits race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots.

A Radiographic Analysis Of Compliance With The Decisions Of The Inter-American Court Of Human Rights, Max Silva Abbott
ILSA Journal of International & Comparative Law
This study examines the compliance level of all Inter-American Court of Human Rights judgments until December 31, 2018. The paper contrasts the data on implementation with the majority narrative regarding the degree of influence that the Inter-American Court has in protecting human rights. It also includes an Annex listing all court cases and judgments until December 2018 (Judgements on Merits, Complementary Judgments, Provisional Measures, Monitoring Compliance with Judgment and Reimbursement), and their corresponding implementation status (full compliance, partial compliance, unfulfilled, pending).

Florida regularly has been ground zero for election news during the 21st century. During elections in Florida, both individual and public health issues resonate strongly, because of the state’s demographics and history. Health care policy is certain to be a key issue in the upcoming election season.

The Morning After: A Phenomenological Approach To Understanding The Process Of Repair And Reconciliation In The Aftermath Of Clergy Sexual Misconduct, Damion Taj Quaye
Department of Conflict Resolution Studies Theses and Dissertations
American religious institutions are expected to be free from the unsettling behaviors found in secular institutions. However, scandals in churches have revealed a difficult truth; the people who operate these faith institutions are just as flawed as those who do not. This hermeneutic phenomenological study explored the damage caused by clergy sexual misconduct. Congregations, families, religious organizations, and the concept of the Christian church suffer because of clergy sexual misconduct. There are significant barriers to repair and reconciliation. Cases of clergy sexual misconduct in the Roman Catholic Church have received much of the attention, but the problem is bigger than …
