KORU Mindfulness practitioner and Law Librarian Heather Simmons created multiple mindfulness and wellness resources for law students throughout the pandemic. A law library strike team on mindfulness was formed to promote these resources, including expanding a research guide for sharing resources and delivering live and pre-recorded content to better serve our students in Fall 2020. This video was one of two created in collaboration between Rachel Evans and Heather Simmons. Heather authored the script and guided the look and feel of the videos while Rachel provided technical support including narration recording.

The University of Georgia School of Law created many working groups to prepare key signage and other resources related to COVID-19 for the law school community as they prepared to reopen the facility and resume hybrid classes for Fall 2020. Two flow charts were created and distributed to faculty, staff and students in August 2020 under advisement from Dean Peter B. Rutledge in consultation with members of UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Population Health and the AU/UGA Medical Partnership. In this five minute video UGA Law Library shared information about reopening for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters, including changes to policies, virtual services, and access to the facility and other resources. This video was used as a part of communications with School of Law faculty, staff and students and embedded on the library's webpage for continuing services throughout the 2020-21 academic year.

With our IT department preparing to upgrade the University of Georgia’s Alexander Campbell King Law Library (UGA Law Library) website from Drupal 7 to 8 this fall, a web developer, an archivist, and a librarian teamed up a year ago to make plans for preserving thousands of born-digital images. We wanted to harvest photographs housed only in web-based photo galleries on the law school website and import them into our repository’s collection. The problem? There were five types of online photo galleries, and our current repository did not include appropriate categories for all of the photographs. The solution? Expand our …

Graduation Addresses

Commencement took place in a virtual format, broadcast via YouTube and Vimeo on the morning of May 16, 2020. More than 205 Juris Doctor, Master of Laws and Master in the Study of Law graduates were recognized in the online video ceremony.

U.S. Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan delivered the keynote address. Srinivasan was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for District of Columbia Circuit in May 2013, after serving as the principal deputy solicitor general of the United States for two years and arguing 25 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Law Librarians Anne Burnett first published this infographic online as part of the library's mindfulness strike team charge. This visual busts the myths of mindfulness, and served as one of many key resources created for and shared with the law students near the beginning of the pandemic. It was originally accessed from within the 6 ft. together portal's mindfulness tab, and can still be accessed today from the continuing mindfulness resource guide that the library elected to maintain along with several other guides aimed at supporting and improving law student wellness.

Robert E. Robinson (J.D. 1974)

Robinson was a beloved civil rights attorney and city alderman in Savannah, GA known for his work in the community and service to numerous indigent clients. A community leader and activist, Robinson served on the executive board and as counsel for the NAACP and was an influential leader in the fight for school desegregation in Savannah. On December 18, 1989, Robinson was tragically killed by a mail bomb that was sent to his Savannah office.
