What Women Bring To The Fight: An Analysis Of Female Leadership In U.S. National Security, Alison Tobey
What Women Bring To The Fight: An Analysis Of Female Leadership In U.S. National Security, Alison Tobey
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Women have held some of the highest-ranking national security positions in the United States, though the overall number of women in leadership positions has remained relatively small until recently. The Biden Administration has achieved gender parity in their national security leadership positions, with over fifty percent of these positions being held by women. Since this is the first time in U.S. history that women have such a significant presence in the defense field, it is important to analyze and understand the changes that can come as a result.
The purpose of this research is to broadly understand the impact that …
An Analysis Of International Agreements Over Cybersecurity, Lucas Ashbaugh
An Analysis Of International Agreements Over Cybersecurity, Lucas Ashbaugh
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Research into the international agreements that increase cooperation over cybersecurity challenges is severely lacking. This is a necessary next step for bridging diplomatic challenges over cybersecurity. This work aspires to be push the bounds of research into these agreements and offer a tool that future researchers can rely on. For this research I created, and made publicly available, the International Cybersecurity Cooperation Dataset (ICCD), which contains over 350 international cybersecurity agreements and pertinent metadata. Each agreement is marked per which subtopics within cybersecurity related agreements it covers. These typologies are:

Non/Disclosure: Documentation And Participant Observation As Hybrid, Nonfiction, Artistic Research Methodology For Ethnographic Media Production, Contemplative Discovery, Social Practice And Catharsis, Cyle P. O'Donnell
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
As if presaged by the physical, fine and philosophical arts that preceded it, the amelioration to the process of documenting the wonted human existence, political strife, and sundry cultural phenomena through the neo-normative medium of film (and eventually digital video) inaugurated the true scope and importance of anthropological research among a vastly wider audience who would use it, and its intrinsic capacity for the augmentation of artistic expression, to proliferate an expansive accompaniment to the field which would all become recognized platforms for demonstrative presentation of individual oeuvres.
Intermedia has worked in this way to amalgamate concepts like Futurism, Dadaism, …
Cops, Cameras And Accountability: User-Generated Online Video And Public Space Police-Civilian Interactions, Douglas Alan Kelly
Cops, Cameras And Accountability: User-Generated Online Video And Public Space Police-Civilian Interactions, Douglas Alan Kelly
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Video captured by increasingly ubiquitous civilian cameras and communicated to a mass audience over the Internet is capable of bypassing police jurisdictional influence over traditional mass media and may be affecting police-civilian interactions in American public space as the initial cusp of a paradigm shift. Historically, the ability to visually record activities in public space was reserved to those with the resources and the motivation to devote to the task. Police and traditional mass media wielded power through cameras, power often not available to the public. Today, police often find their cameras outnumbered by those under autonomous citizen control. An …
The Millimeter Legal Coordinated Cadastre, Carlton A. Brown
The Millimeter Legal Coordinated Cadastre, Carlton A. Brown
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Land ownership is an important part of a nation’s wealth. Land value is determined by information about the land and about property rights that exist over the land. The Cadastre is the primary means of providing information about property rights, providing the private and public sector with: information identifying those people who have interests in parcels of land; information about those interests; and information about the parcels. The definitive cadastre would require anyone looking for information about a parcel of land to only go to the cadastre to find everything there is to know about the land such as: • …
At The Magistrate's Discretion: Sexual Crime And New England Law, 1636-1718, Abby Chandler
At The Magistrate's Discretion: Sexual Crime And New England Law, 1636-1718, Abby Chandler
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation is a comparative study of sexual crime trials in four New England jurisdictions: Essex County, Massachusetts, Plymouth Colony, The Province of Maine, and Rhode Island Colony. It argued that sexual crime trials could be used as a tool for studying the diverse and changing legal cultures of different regions within New England. Whether morality or child support was under discussion, sexual intercourse outside of marriage threatened to disrupt the social and economic bounds of early modern society. Nevertheless, methods for addressing the issue varied widely in New England, depending on the jurisdiction in question. As a result, examining …
Public Conservation Land And Economic Growth In The Northern Forest Region, David Lewis
Public Conservation Land And Economic Growth In The Northern Forest Region, David Lewis
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Environmental issues frequently revolve around a perceived tradeoff between the economy and the environment. In the Northern Forest region, one of the most important environmental policy issues of recent years has been the ownership of vast stretches of undeveloped forestland. Specifically, the possibility of increasing public conservation ownership on these lands has emerged. Opponents of conservation lands often argue that employment will decline significantly when land is diverted from commodity-oriented uses such as forest products production. Proponents of conservation lands frequently cite the amenity benefits of conservation lands and the potential to diversify and stimulate the economy by designating more …
The Executive Council Of Maine, William Adams Newdick
The Executive Council Of Maine, William Adams Newdick
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In the state government of Maine there is an Executive Council which has gained such powers that it has become an important unit of the system of checks and balances. Thus, it becomes of importance to examine the extent of these powers, and to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the Executive Council.
The first section of the thesis examines the various councils that preceded the formation of the State Constitution of 1820. The history of councils in other states, particularly that of Massachusetts, is discussed and evaluated. The debates of the Constitutional Convention of 1820 are covered in order …
