As defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, harassment is commonly transferred via some type of unwelcome communicated behavior, which includes discrimination (2007). This Capstone Experience/Thesis is an in-depth reporting project on Hispanic immigration in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With a journalistic approach, this project identifies key issues in the immigrant community, including issues concerning illegal immigrants. The purpose of this project is to identify and document the stories of these immigrants. Because some sources interviewed were illegal, anonymity was upheld throughout the project. This CE/T also analyzes the use of anonymous sources in journalism. Specifically, this project analyzes the balance of the field of journalism’s requirement to inform its public and the requirement to not harm any source.

During the Civil Rights Movement, Mississippi was very resistant to activities that challenged the “Southern way of life” and did nearly everything they could to prevent civil rights workers from conducting work there. During the summer of1964 the murders of three of James Chaney, a black volunteer, and Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, white volunteers, would shock the nation and prompt an investigation by the FBI. One month prior to their disappearances, two black teenagers, Charles Moore and Henry Dee, went missing in a manner similar to the three civil rights workers.
