Abstract - Universalising the American – Secured Credit and UNCITRAL This paper turns the spotlight on harmonisation and modernisation of secured credit law. The whole harmonization and modernization agenda appears to be driven by a desire to remove restrictions on the taking of security. This is because of a widespread belief that a “liberal” secured transactions regime promotes economic growth by widening the availability of credit. But the agenda also has its critics.
