Papers related to the C.H. Freeman estate. Zubah and C.H. Freeman had many investments such as the Yawkey and Freeman Coal Company and the Freeman Estates. This collection contains contract agreements for property purchases of the Estates, a contour map of what seems to be the Freeman’s country residence, and correspondences between Zubah and realtors. This collection also houses some of Zubah’s family documents including old letters, registers of visitors from Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, and Paul and Ricky Ray’s basketball documents.

The Nancy Murray Mann papers consist of correspondences, speeches in various paper formats, newspaper clippings, government publications, photographs, copies of Mann’s passport, land deeds, and research notes from Ben Riley, a Marshall University graduate student from 1983-1985. The focus of the collection primarily covers Mann’s political and social activities, particularly her political involvement during the 1928 presidential campaign for Herbert Hoover and her subsequent work during his administration. Several of her letters are addressed to President Hoover; however almost of the responses come from his secretary Lawrence Richey. District Court, Southern W. Va., Huntington, W. Va. Includes depositions of children who survived the Buffalo Creek flood of 1972 as well as grade reports of selected children and depositions of scholars Robert J. Lifton and Kai Erikson concerning survivor guilt.

This collection consists of fifteen items that are indentures of bargain and sale for land in Mason County, Virginia (later West Virginia). The items appear to have been collected by the Sterrett family as they were party to many of the deed transactions. Parties of the sales include Alexander E. Spotswood and Betsey Washington Spotswood, William Trotter and Mary Trotter, Walter Newman and Ellen Newman, Bushrod Washington Jr., Henry C./G. Dade and Catherine Dade, Phillip Long and Adam Long, Washington Steritt(?), and William Sterritt (sometimes Sterrett). The land was originally part of the George Washington military tract.
