Purpose and Instruction:
The educational program of the law school is designed to equip its graduates with legally trained minds, while instilling a sense of professional responsibility. The case method of instruction is used in many courses. The beginning student is trained in the analysis and solution of legal problems by the application of logical reasoning. Attention is given to the principles of the early common law, state and federal decisions and statutes, and to such rules of law as are peculiar to Virginia. Substantive courses, dealing with the content of the law, are generally taught by full-time professors. Many …
