Griot: Literary And Arts Journal Of The University Of Michigan Law School, University Of Michigan Law School

Miscellaneous Law School History & Publications

When the Griot was resurrected last year, we promised that having whetted the appetite of the literary community, we would do our very best to serve up stories savory and wide-ranging enough to satisfy our readers. This issue, we believe, will not only fill that hunger, but will hopefully push readers to ask for seconds. The submissions for this year tripled over last y ear's. This is a testament to the fact that the literary connoisseurs at the law school have been anticipating the awakening of a cornucopia of genius.

Miscellaneous Law School History & Publications

We all need art, and to see it flourish in our own academic community is cause for celebration and gratitude. Thank you, contributors, for sharing the fruits of your creative energy with your friends and colleagues.

The Editors would also like to extend a hearty thank you to the Law School Student Senate for its continued and generous financial support.

We would like to extend our appreciation to the Law School Student Senate and the Nonnes-Rom Challenge fund for their financial support, to the Law School Copy Center for its technical support, and to Prof. Ronald Monn and Adam Chester for their counsel on copyright issues. We thank you, our readers, for your interest.

Most of all, we would like to thank all of those members of the law school community who took the time and effort to submit their work. Without their energy and courage, this journal would cease to exist.

Enjoy.

Dicta, University Of Michigan Law School

Miscellaneous Law School History & Publications

This is the third year of Dicta, the law school's literary journal and a child of the vision of two 1996 graduates, Miles Yanick and Matt Morris. We hope that this creative forum will continue to grow and to flourish, enriching the law school community by offering a spectrum of poetry, fiction, essays, photography, and artwork. The editors faced a difficult task again this year as we again received more material than we could publish. We continued the policy of considering all submissions anonymously. This final product reflects the often conflicting views of the editors who tried to select a …

We're back. For the second year in a row we have solicited, selected, and published the creative work of many talented members of the law school community. Again, we received more than we could publish. Again, the final result reflects the varying and often conflicting views of the editorial staff. All submissions were considered anonymously, so any overlap between the list of editors and the list of contributors is simply due to the fact that those interested in editing Dicta were also among those interested in contributing to it.
