The public's interest in and use of alternative forms of dispute resolution has been in existence for hundreds of years.2 However, today's rejuvenated interest in alternative forms of dispute resolution can be traced to the late sixties Since that time, alternative forms of dispute resolution have been labeled the wave of the future. The growth of alternative forms of dispute resolution can be seen in the tremendous increase in programs offering dispute resolution services.
