Fire And Life Safety Analysis Of The Production Facility (Pf)- 870, Nolan Baker Dec 2017

Fire And Life Safety Analysis Of The Production Facility (Pf)- 870, Nolan Baker

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The purpose of the fire and life-safety analysis was to perform a prescriptive-based and performance based analysis on the fire and life safety systems in the Production Facility (PF) at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). The prescriptive-based analysis determined if the building met applicable code requirements for existing life safety systems. The performance-based analysis consisted of a series of fire scenarios to ensure the fire and life safety systems allowed adequate egress time for occupants in the event of a fire. The prescriptive-based analysis was based on the Life Safety Code (LSC) and the International Building Code (IBC). The occupancy of …

Sandia National Laboratories' Building 858/North Fabrication Facility, Daniel Garcia Dec 2017

Sandia National Laboratories' Building 858/North Fabrication Facility, Daniel Garcia

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

In this report, a fire protection and fire hazard analysis has been performed on a semi- conductor facility, abbreviated as the Fab, located on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Fab is part of the MESA complex which is operated by the NTESS Corporation for the Department of Energy (DOE) at Sandia National Laboratories. The prescriptive analysis of this report addresses the various fire protection systems in the facility such as fire suppression, and fire alarm. The prescriptive analysis is based on national codes and standards from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and from the International …

Los Angeles Air Force Base Fitness Center, Colin White Jun 2017

Los Angeles Air Force Base Fitness Center, Colin White

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The purpose of this report is to evaluate the life safety features of the Los Angeles Air Force Base Fitness Center, located on Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, California. This report is produced in partial fulfillment of the requirements of a Master’s of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the Fire Protection Engineering Program at California Polytechnic State University’s San Luis Obispo Campus. This analysis approaches life safety in the fitness center from two angles. First, a prescriptive approach is used to evaluate the building’s compliance with current codes and standards that govern construction and maintenance of …

Child Development Center- Fire Protection Analysis, Tyler Ball Jun 2017

Child Development Center- Fire Protection Analysis, Tyler Ball

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report contains two separate forms of analysis, Prescriptive-Based Analysis and Performance-Base Analysis. The Prescriptive Analysis discusses an overview of the building and its features whereas the Performance-Based Analysis discusses the building meeting applicable codes and standards as discussed in NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2012 Edition, Unified Facilities Code (UFC), International Building Code (IBC) 2012 Edition, and the SFPE Handbook of Fire Protection Engineering. The Child Development Center (CDC) was analyzed as a new construction building. There are also noted assumptions within the report where necessary information about the building could not be obtained due to information restrictions from …

Fire And Safety Analysis Robert E. Kennedy Library, Marius Bjelde Andersen Mar 2017

Fire And Safety Analysis Robert E. Kennedy Library, Marius Bjelde Andersen

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The Robert E. Kennedy Library is located on Cal Poly Campus. The Library is a five-story building with different occupancies which consists of library areas, offices, mechanical equipment and storage areas. The building has a total area of 178 702 ft². The original code of construction for the Library was the 1976 Uniform Building code (UBC). However, the fire and life safety analysis of the building in this report is performed using: Egress: NFPA 101 LSC 2015, Water based suppression: NFPA 13, Structural fire protection: 2015 IBC, Fire detection, alarm and communication systems: NFPA 72, Performance based design: NFPA 101 …

Fire And Life Safety Analysis- Warren J. Baker Center For Science And Mathematics, Chad Rudolph Graves Mar 2017

Fire And Life Safety Analysis- Warren J. Baker Center For Science And Mathematics, Chad Rudolph Graves

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report covers the fire protection features of the Warren J. Baker Center for Science and Mathematics located on Cal Poly Campus San Luis Obispo California. The prescriptive analysis of the building will focus on the structural fire protection, egress, fire suppression, fire alarm and detection systems to determine if the meet current codes and standards. The performance based analysis will discuss certain methods and design fire scenarios that can be present within the building and the buildings ability to protect occupants until they can exit safely.

The purpose of this report is to determine if the selected building is …

Fire And Life Safety Report Orfalea College Of Business, Sulaiman Almohammadi Mar 2017

Fire And Life Safety Report Orfalea College Of Business, Sulaiman Almohammadi

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

A comprehensive fire and life safety analysis was performed on the Orfalea College of Business. The report covers the prescriptive analysis of the building and the performance-based design analysis. The prescriptive analysis includes assessment of the relevant codes for egress system, water-based suppression system, alarm and detection system, and structural fire protection. The egress analysis under the Life Safety Code 2015 found the building meets the requirements of occupant load to exceed exit capacity, number of exits and its location, travel distances. Four rooms on the second floor that have not met the common path of travel distances limits were …

Fire And Life Safety Evaluation Of The Christopher Cohan Center, Joakim Midtun Larsen Mar 2017

Fire And Life Safety Evaluation Of The Christopher Cohan Center, Joakim Midtun Larsen

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This project is an academic exercise, as part of the MS Fire Protection Engineering program of California Polytechnic State University. The project is a culminating report with regards to life safety analysis of the Christopher Cohan Center of Cal Poly, which builds on the fundamental and applied courses of the program. The analysis is twofold, where the first part is a Prescriptive Analysis of the building and its features, followed by a Performance Based Life Safety Analysis. Both parts are performed in accordance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2015 edition, Codes/Standards references within NFPA 101, and supplemented by methods …
