Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis Of A University Conference Center, Amanda Beck Larkin

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This project report analyzes various aspects of fire protection and life safety design for a University Conference Center, for both prescriptive and performance-based designs. The University Conference Center is a ten-story, high-rise building comprised of various gathering spaces, ranging from small conference rooms to large assembly spaces with auditorium-style seating. The building has a large two-story podium with basement below, with a smaller floor plate, ten-story tower offset to one side.

In the prescriptive analysis, no deficiencies were noted in the water-based suppression or fire resistance analysis. The building construction type, height, area, number of stories, wall and structural ratings, …

Elewexe – Building 172b, California Polytechnic State University – San Luis Obispo, Anna M. Santoro

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo recently finished constructing a new multimillion student housing project on campus. One of the six buildings, elewexe or 172B, from this housing complex was selected for a full evaluation of the fire and life safety systems using both prescriptive and performance based approaches. The building is a Type II-B four story dormitory with an R-2 occupancy classification.

For the prescriptive approach, the building was evaluated against the most current editions of the IBC and relevant NFPA code editions for building requirements, sprinkler design and fire alarm and detection. When looking at the …

Fire Protection Analysis: Engineering Iv, Building 192, Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, Paul Jenkins

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report is an analysis of the fire protection capabilities of Engineering IV (Building 192) at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, CA. The overall objective of this report was to assess whether the building and its fire protection systems supported the evacuation of occupants from the building in a safe manner before conditions became untenable during a fire event. The assessment was accomplished by performing a prescriptive and performance analysis.

The purpose of the prescriptive analysis was to determine whether the building egress components and fire protections systems were designed, built, and installed in compliance with all the …

Mayo Clinic Specialties Building- Fire And Life Safety Report, Taylor Bateman

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The MCS Building is a medical clinic facility located in Phoenix, Arizona. It is a four-story building with roughly 40,000 square feet of occupied floor area per story. The MCS Building is connected to an adjoining hospital on all four occupied stories, and is not considered a separate building from the hospital in accordance with the 2012 International Building Code (IBC). However, for the academic purposes of this report, only the fire and life safety features of the MCS Building are discussed, as if it is a separate building. It consists primarily of medical offices and outpatient clinics, and is …
