Grange Insurance Audubon Center-Fire Protection Life Safety Report, Gabriel Levy Jun 2022

Grange Insurance Audubon Center-Fire Protection Life Safety Report, Gabriel Levy

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This technical approach narrative presents the intent and methodology of the Fire Protection and Life Safety systems for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center located at 505 W Whittier St. Columbus OH 43215. The primary goal of the structure is to provide life and property protection in a fire scenario while taking into account the costs of implementing the criterion and risks associated with the facility. This will be achieved through the appropriate application of requirements listed in the 2015 International Building Code (IBC) and the International Fire Code (IFC) as adopted by the City of Columbus, Ohio, and any reference …

Mount Sac Gym & Aquatics Center: Fire & Life Safety Report, Alex Hoeft Jun 2022

Mount Sac Gym & Aquatics Center: Fire & Life Safety Report, Alex Hoeft

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report has been prepared to review and analyze the Fire and Life Safety status of the proposed Gym & Aquatics building at Mt. San Antonio College. This was done using two methods: prescriptive and performance based. The prescriptive section examines the explicitly code-mandated requirements for the building and the performance-based section examines implicit requirements for the building based on the goals presented in the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101.

The subject building is a 147,000 square foot, two-story, steel-framed athletics complex occupied primarily for assembly and business uses. The structure has an indoor and outdoor component with two gymnasiums …

Process Support Building Savannah River Site, Victoria Zawacki

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

A report on the fire and life safety analysis of the Savannah River Site Process Support Building is required in order to receive a Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. The Process Support Building is a two-story office building that was first occupied in 2013, with a floor area of approximately 10,000 ft2. The building contains mainly personal offices, but also contains conference and turnover rooms, a Computer Simulation Room, an Observation Room, and a lunch area. The analysis includes both prescriptive and performance-based analysis.

The Process Support Building is …

Fire Safety Management Plan For South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building, Brett Long Jun 2022

Fire Safety Management Plan For South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building, Brett Long

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report includes a fire protection and life safety analysis of the South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building (TGB). This analysis was done to fulfill the requirement for the Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from California Polytechnic State University. The Turbine Generator Building consists of three elevations and is Type II-B construction. The TGB’s primary use is a special-purpose industrial building housing the turbine generator, main feed pumps, condensate pumps, condenser, feed water re-heaters, secondary cold chemistry lab, Balance-of-Plant (BOP) diesel, batteries, and switchgear, 13.8 kVA switchgear, and various other systems and components. This analysis consists of …

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report contains an analysis of the life safety and fire protection features of a four-story apartment building in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The report is a part of the final project intended to meet the requirements for the Culminating Experience of the California Polytechnic Master of Science Fire Protection Engineering Program.

The apartment building chosen for the analysis is a mixed-use four-story wood-framed structure. The first floor of this structure includes office space for building management, a meeting space, and various electrical and mechanical spaces as well as apartments. There are exit stairways on each end of the structure extending …

Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis Of Christopher Cohan Center, Kristen Dentici Jun 2022

Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis Of Christopher Cohan Center, Kristen Dentici

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report analyzes the fire protection and life safety systems of the Christopher Cohan Center. The building was assessed from both a prescriptive and performance-based approach.

The prescriptive design analyzed the code requirements for the building based on the 2018 IBC, with some consideration for the codes in place at the time of construction. The prescriptive analysis main focus was on egress systems, fire alarm and detection, fire suppression, and structural fire protection. The egress analysis found that the exits and exit configuration were sufficient for the occupant loads that were calculated for the building. The fire alarm and detection …

Two-Storey Office Building, Colin Mallett Jun 2022

Two-Storey Office Building, Colin Mallett

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This FPE 596 culminating project report was developed to meet the requirements for completion of the Fire Protection Master’s Program at Cal Poly. The report is intended to provide a detailed understanding of fire and building code requirements as well as describe both prescriptive and performance based approaches to human behavior in fire scenarios, building evacuation strategies, egress design and tenability analysis. An overall determination will be made to evaluate if the building provides the expected levels of safety for building occupants from fire.

The office building #211 was designed and constructed to be compliant with the International Building Code …
