Grange Insurance Audubon Center-Fire Protection Life Safety Report, Gabriel Levy Jun 2022

Grange Insurance Audubon Center-Fire Protection Life Safety Report, Gabriel Levy

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This technical approach narrative presents the intent and methodology of the Fire Protection and Life Safety systems for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center located at 505 W Whittier St. Columbus OH 43215. The primary goal of the structure is to provide life and property protection in a fire scenario while taking into account the costs of implementing the criterion and risks associated with the facility. This will be achieved through the appropriate application of requirements listed in the 2015 International Building Code (IBC) and the International Fire Code (IFC) as adopted by the City of Columbus, Ohio, and any reference …

Warren Baker Center For Science And Mathematics- Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis, Logan Honeycutt Jun 2022

Warren Baker Center For Science And Mathematics- Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis, Logan Honeycutt

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report covers an analysis of the fire protection features within the Warren Baker Center for Science and Mathematics Building. This document first discusses the prescriptive requirements for the building as determined by applicable code. The items to be discussed, as they relate to prescriptive requirements, include the means of egress and relatable components, fire resistive construction, fire alarm system, fire sprinkler system, and smoke control system. All components were analyzed and compared to each applicable code to assess whether these specific fire protection systems were designed correctly.

In addition to an analysis of the prescriptive measures in this facility, …

Mount Sac Gym & Aquatics Center: Fire & Life Safety Report, Alex Hoeft Jun 2022

Mount Sac Gym & Aquatics Center: Fire & Life Safety Report, Alex Hoeft

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report has been prepared to review and analyze the Fire and Life Safety status of the proposed Gym & Aquatics building at Mt. San Antonio College. This was done using two methods: prescriptive and performance based. The prescriptive section examines the explicitly code-mandated requirements for the building and the performance-based section examines implicit requirements for the building based on the goals presented in the Life Safety Code, NFPA 101.

The subject building is a 147,000 square foot, two-story, steel-framed athletics complex occupied primarily for assembly and business uses. The structure has an indoor and outdoor component with two gymnasiums …

Fire Safety Management Plan For South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building, Brett Long Jun 2022

Fire Safety Management Plan For South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building, Brett Long

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report includes a fire protection and life safety analysis of the South Texas Project Turbine Generator Building (TGB). This analysis was done to fulfill the requirement for the Master of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from California Polytechnic State University. The Turbine Generator Building consists of three elevations and is Type II-B construction. The TGB’s primary use is a special-purpose industrial building housing the turbine generator, main feed pumps, condensate pumps, condenser, feed water re-heaters, secondary cold chemistry lab, Balance-of-Plant (BOP) diesel, batteries, and switchgear, 13.8 kVA switchgear, and various other systems and components. This analysis consists of …

Fire Protection Analysis Project – 9220 Zanzibar Lane Maple Grove, Mn, Brian Vandal Jun 2022

Fire Protection Analysis Project – 9220 Zanzibar Lane Maple Grove, Mn, Brian Vandal

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report contains an analysis of the life safety and fire protection features of a four-story apartment building in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The report is a part of the final project intended to meet the requirements for the Culminating Experience of the California Polytechnic Master of Science Fire Protection Engineering Program.

The apartment building chosen for the analysis is a mixed-use four-story wood-framed structure. The first floor of this structure includes office space for building management, a meeting space, and various electrical and mechanical spaces as well as apartments. There are exit stairways on each end of the structure extending …

Jack E Brown Chemical Engineering Building At Texas A&M University, Daniel Higdon Jun 2022

Jack E Brown Chemical Engineering Building At Texas A&M University, Daniel Higdon

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The Jack E Brown Chemical Engineering building at Texas A&M is located in College Station, TX. While this building is dedicated to chemical engineering, it serves many different departments as they use the lecture halls on the first floor. It was built and opened in 2004 and has 206,500 square feet with 7 stories. The building consists of multiple labs as well as study hall rooms, computer labs, offices, and the normal MEP/storage rooms. Jack E Brown building is one of the foremost buildings of the Texas A&M engineering quadrant and is further proof that Texas A&M desires to keep …

Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis Of Christopher Cohan Center, Kristen Dentici Jun 2022

Fire Protection And Life Safety Analysis Of Christopher Cohan Center, Kristen Dentici

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report analyzes the fire protection and life safety systems of the Christopher Cohan Center. The building was assessed from both a prescriptive and performance-based approach.

The prescriptive design analyzed the code requirements for the building based on the 2018 IBC, with some consideration for the codes in place at the time of construction. The prescriptive analysis main focus was on egress systems, fire alarm and detection, fire suppression, and structural fire protection. The egress analysis found that the exits and exit configuration were sufficient for the occupant loads that were calculated for the building. The fire alarm and detection …

La Universal, Jose Emilio Salgado Florencia Jun 2022

La Universal, Jose Emilio Salgado Florencia

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The purpose of this project was to analyze and compare the existing fire protection systems in “LA UNIVERSAL” building to current applicable codes and standards. Both prescriptive based analysis and performance-based analyses were performed.

The prescriptive based analyses included analyzing the structural fire protection, fire suppression, fire alarm, and egress systems. There are many fire protection features that do not meet the requirements established by the NFPA standards. The fire alarm panel does not provide enough address for the required number of devices required in the building. Emergency lights do not provide the minimum illumination established in NFPA 101. The …
