"The chief object of the work has been the location of the Roubidoux-Jefferson City contact, if it occurred within a mile of the railroad. Distances and positions along the track were obtained by the use of a map and by counting telephone poles. Other locations were made by obtaining their bearing and distance from these points by the use of a compass and by pacing. Elevations were carried by aneroid barometers, using the railroad elevations at mile points as bench marks. An attempt has been made to locate all important outcrops; but these are shown only on the field map. …

"The purpose of this paper is to give a description of the most important mining operations of the Arizona Copper Company at Morenci, Arizona, during the years 1911, 1912 and 1913. This work was planned in the engineering department by the mine superintendent, Mr. John Kiddie, while the author was employed in his office as chief mine surveyor from November 1911 to September 1913. As in other mining districts of the southwest, the rich contact and pocket, copper deposits in the Clifton-Morenci district have been nearly exhausted, necessitating the development and extraction of the low-grade porphyry deposits"--Introduction, Page 1.

"Petroleum Is a mixture of hydrocarbons. It is a liquid varying from colorless, through yellow and brown to black. It varies from 1.0 to 0.80 in specific gravity, which corresponds to 10° to 45° Beaume. It varies widely in physical properties, such as viscosity, ignition point, polarization of light, etc. Chemically it is composed essentially of carbon and hydrogen, but usually contains impurities such as sulphur and nitrogen. The carbon and hydrogen combine with each other to form certain series, or "chains"--Chemical and Physical Nature, page 1.

"The object of this series of tests was to determine the effect of compression upon the candle power of carburetted water gas, as made in the daily operation of a three piece water gas machine, cooled in condensers, passed through shavings, scrubbers and oxide material, and thence into a storage holder, ready for compression and distribution.
