Performance Analysis Of Mobile Edge Computing Deployment Models In 5g Networks, Safaa Alali, Abdulkaim Assalem

Jerash for Research and Studies Journal مجلة جرش للبحوث والدراسات

5G networks and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) are two main pillars of the next technological revolution. The first pillar provides ultra-reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity with ultra-low latency, while the second pillar gives mobile networks cloud computing capabilities at the edge of the network, enabling compute-dense, context-aware services for mobile users. So the next generation of mobile networks will see close integration between computing and communication. Therefore, it was necessary to study the different deployment options for edge hosts in 5G network, to know the effect of those options on the overall performance of the network. In this research, (Omnetpp 6.0) network …

Apple “Porn” 2.0: Apple’S Vision (Pro), Suzanne E. Ferriss Oct 2023

Apple “Porn” 2.0: Apple’S Vision (Pro), Suzanne E. Ferriss

Class, Race and Corporate Power

This article extends the argument made in “Apple ‘Porn’: Design Videos as Seduction and Exploitation” (Ferriss 2018) to consider the corporation’s filmed representation of its newest device: an augmented reality headset dubbed Vision Pro. It argues that Apple’s latest narratives further relegate human work and community to the margins by presenting human experience as thoroughly mediated by computer-enhanced simulation, its pinnacle achieved through its Apple Vision Pro headset that turns the home and workspace into one immersive audiovisual world. Rather than its devices and software becoming an inseparable part of our personal and shared spaces, they become the spaces. We …

The Benefits Of Employing Multi Skilled Techniciansto Maintenance Processes, Abdulsalam A. Al-Sudairi Oct 2020

The Benefits Of Employing Multi Skilled Techniciansto Maintenance Processes, Abdulsalam A. Al-Sudairi

Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)

Many researchers and practitioners applied lean theory to planning, designing and executing construction projects. However, few of their studies have been conducted in maintaining such projects. Maintaining and operating any constructed facility costs more than its initial cost. The aim of this study is to improve maintenance processes by simulating the lean concept of multi-skilled technician to an existing maintenance process. Statistical data and maintenance process map of Saudi Consolidated Electric Company (SCECO) are modeled in Extend+BPR® to be an experimental tool for evaluating the benefits of multi-skilled technicians. The simulation models of this study showed significant improvement in both …

Integrating Computational Analysis Techniques In Egyptian Academic Architecture Curricula, Ingy El-Darwish Aug 2020

Integrating Computational Analysis Techniques In Egyptian Academic Architecture Curricula, Ingy El-Darwish

Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)

Educational environments must support real life needs, and serve industry demands on both local and worldwide levels. Computer technology can enhance architecture in so many ways. Data Collection, conceptual design, computer aided design, digital model, physical model, virtual reality, simulation, and remote collaboration are different fields that support architecture technically, not to mention the advantages in construction industry. That is why it must be integrated in architecture education, but with care so as not burden creativity. It was found that 75% of the computer modules in architecture departments in Egyptian universities and institutes do not fully integrate with other modules. …
