As construction projects became larger and more complex the need to control their costs became greater. As a result, cost control professions such as the cost manager and the quantity surveyor emerged. Cost control mechanisms have evolved with changes in the construction sectors. It is now apparent that the output of the construction sector plays an important part in the economic stability and growth of both national and international economies.
