An Improved Ant Colony System For A Real Time Routing Strategy, Hannaneh Rashidi-Bajgan, Taravatsadat Nehzati, Napsiah Ismail
Hannaneh Rashidi-Bajgan
There is a large number of literatures about routing and dispatching plans for automated guided vehicle system (AGVS), however a small fraction of these works dealt with dynamic characteristic of this kind of scheduling problems. Current paper surveys a real time strategy to responding requests for supposed material handling system in the plant. We arranged this designing on a preplanned system where all data are known before the constructing routes. An improved ant colony optimization (ACO) is applied in order to find the shortest route path as new solicitations happened. We explore ACO initially for static version of the problem, …

This paper presents an approach to find the optimal location of thyristor-controlled series compensators (TCSC) in a power system to improve the loadability of its lines and minimize its total loss. Also the proposed approach aims to find the optimal number of devices and their optimal ratings by using genetic algorithm (GA) with taking into consideration the thermal and voltage limits. Examination of the proposed approach is carried out on the IEEE 9-bus system.
A Classification Technique For Protection Coordination Assessment Of Distribution Systems With Distributed Generation, Almoataz Youssef Abdelaziz
A Classification Technique For Protection Coordination Assessment Of Distribution Systems With Distributed Generation, Almoataz Youssef Abdelaziz
Almoataz Youssef Abdelaziz
In this paper a novel approach is presented to study the impact of distributed generation on recloser-fuse coordination. This approach is based on the assessment of the recloser-fuse coordination due to the penetration of distributed generation with specified location and capacity for a given fault location. This assessment process acts as a classifier, based on finding the operating sequence of all reclosers and fuses in the path from the faulted node to the substation. This sequence is compared with a pre-required sequence obtained from the protection coordination philosophy, and then provides the distribution system operator with a result indicating whether …

This article describes a systematic approach to the inferential measurement developments of carbonate and bicarbonate ratio, using support vector regression (SVR) analysis. Given historic process data, a simple SVR based soft sensor model is found capable of identifying and capturing the cause and effect relationship between operating variables (model input) and QC variables so that the final correlation and regression coefficient was understood by process engineers.
Fractional Factorial Design Optimization Of Nontraditional Completion Fluid For Perforation With Underbalance, Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman
Fractional Factorial Design Optimization Of Nontraditional Completion Fluid For Perforation With Underbalance, Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman
Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman
Optimal well performance is always associated with the creation of a clean and undamaged connection between wellbore and reservoir. However, it is apparent that the use of shaped-charge perforating tends to produce perforation-induced formation damage. This damage impairs fluid flow and decreases well productivity. To minimize and eliminate this damage, underbalance perforating should be considered. Underbalance perforating has been considered as one of the best means of providing a transient surge flow for tunnel cleanup. This paper introduces the formulation of super lightweight completion to achieve underbalance condition. The formulation was optimized using fractional factorial design. The result indicates that …

Leaching Mechanism Of Semiconducting Minerals, Fathi Habashi
Fathi Habashi
The mechanism of leaching of semiconducting minerals such as PbS, ZnS, UO2, etc., has been the subject of intensive speculation by hydrometallurgists in the early 1950s. The electrochemical mechanism proposed in 1970 by the author in volume 2 of his Principles of Extractive Metallurgy avoids the assumption of forming intermediate complexes that cannot be isolated or identified.

Control Of A High-Performance Z-Source Inverter For Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Omar Ellabban, Joeri Van Mierlo, Philippe Lataire
Omar Ellabban
This paper presents a supercapacitor (SC) module connected in parallel with fuel cell (FC) stack to supply a high-performance Z-Source Inverter (HP-ZSI) feeding a three phase induction motor for hybrid electric vehicles applications. The supercapacitor is connected between the input diode and the bidirectional switch of the highperformance ZSI topology. The indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) method is used to control an induction motor speed during motoring and regenerative braking operations to produce the modulation index and a dual loop controller is used to control the Z-network capacitor voltage to produce the shoot-through duty ratio. MATLAB simulation results verified the validity …

Sustaining World Food Security With Improved Cassavaprocessing Technology: The Nigeria Experience, Oladele Peter Kolawole Engr.
Oladele Peter Kolawole Ph.D
Cassava is a very important food crop that is capable of providing food security. However, a lot of problems prevent the development and use of modern equipment for its production. Most of the cassava produced still comes from peasant farmers who depend on manual tools for their field operations and these farmers have made Nigeria the world’s largest producer of the crop. An increase in production of cassava to sustain the world food security needs improved machinery to allow its continuous cultivation and processing. Reasons for the low success recorded in the mechanization of cassava harvesting and processing were traced, …

Mix Design And Mechanical Properties Of Oil Palm Shell Lightweight Aggregate Concrete: A Review, Hilmi Mahmud
Hilmi Mahmud
To build environmentally sustainable structures, especially in developing countries, the possibility of using some agricultural wastes and industrial by-products from different industries as construction materials will be highly desirable and has several practical and economic advantages. Oil palm shell (OPS) is a form of agricultural solid waste in the tropical regimes. Research over the last two decades shows that OPS can be used as a lightweight aggregate for producing structural lightweight aggregate concrete. The density of OPS concrete is around 20 - 25% lower than normal weight concrete. Generally, mechanical properties of OPS concrete are slightly lower than the other …
