An Atomistic Approach For The Survey Of Dislocation-Grain Boundary Interactions In Fcc Nickel, Devin William Adams

It is well known that grain boundaries (GBs) have a strong influence on mechanical properties of polycrystalline materials. Not as well-known is how different GBs interact with dislocations to influence dislocation movement. This work presents a molecular dynamics study of 33 different FCC Ni bicrystals subjected to mechanical loading to induce incident dislocation-GB interactions. The resulting simulations are analyzed to determine properties of the interaction that affect the likelihood of transmission of the dislocation through the GB in an effort to better inform mesoscale models of dislocation movement within polycrystals. Abstract

Getting a heavy object up a flight of stairs usually requires a team of two or more people. Even with a team of people, the task is often still difficult, dangerous, and possibly insurmountable by one person. This problem is especially prevalent in for those who are moving into apartment complexes. Most apartment complexes have many buildings with two or more floors of living quarters, and elevators are often missing. This project sought to offer a solution to this problem. Characterization Of Hydraulic Interactions Between Torque Converter And Transmission During Transient Events, Mark Woodland

A torque converter was instrumented with 29 pressure transducers to measure the torus, clutch plate, and torque converter cavities using telemetry to transfer the data. The torque converter was placed in a six-speed front wheel drive transmission and a test cell was built to drive and load the transmission to mimic in-vehicle performance.

Steady state tests were completed to establish a baseline for pressure performance of the torque converter. The transient events tested include back drive and gear shifting. Back drive showed how the pressure fluctuates across the speed ratios above 1 as well as identifying the stator speed. Gear …

"With the rapid development of robotics technology, robots are increasingly used to conduct various tasks by utility companies. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is an efficient robot that can be used to inspect high-voltage transmission lines.
