Reliability-Based Underseepage Analysis In Levees Using Monte Carlo Simulation, Lourdes Polanco
Reliability-Based Underseepage Analysis In Levees Using Monte Carlo Simulation, Lourdes Polanco
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
A new method for assessing the potential for unsatisfactory levee performance due to underseepage is presented. Specifically, the method assesses the potential for the initiation of piping (the internal backward erosion of the foundation or embankment caused by seepage). Current assessment methods consist of deterministic seepage analyses and simplified reliability methods. Deterministic methods produce either a maximum hydraulic exit gradient or a Factor of Safety against piping but they do not account for high levels of uncertainty in soil properties and subsurface geometry that are inherent to many levee analyses. The most common simplified reliability approaches that are currently being …
Methods To Streamline Laminate Composite Design, Analysis, And Optimization, Ammon Ikaika No Kapono Hepworth
Methods To Streamline Laminate Composite Design, Analysis, And Optimization, Ammon Ikaika No Kapono Hepworth
Theses and Dissertations
Advanced composite materials have seen major market growth in recent years due to their high strength and low weight properties. These materials are often made using a process that creates a composite laminate by stacking several composite layers together. However, the design, analysis and optimization of laminate composite materials are often a labor intensive process when done manually. This thesis discusses CAD independent algorithms that are integrated into commercial CAD tools to streamline these processes. Methods have been developed to automatically create 3D ply geometry for a laminate composite lay-up, streamline the creation of a laminate composite finite element model …
Analysis Of An Economic Order Quantity And Reorder Point Inventory Control Model For Company Xyz, Jose L. Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez
Analysis Of An Economic Order Quantity And Reorder Point Inventory Control Model For Company Xyz, Jose L. Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez
Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
As a result to today’s uncertain economy, companies are searching for alternative ways to stay competitive. In which, Company XYZ has been faced with an ineffective forecasting method that has lead to multiple product stock outs. The issue faced has caused sales loss as well as profit loss, which companies can not afford to lose if they want to stay competitive. This project goes through the process of analyzing the company’s current forecasting model and recommending an inventory control model to help them solve their current issue. As a result, an Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and a Reorder Point was …
Sensitivity Analysis Of The Johnson-Cook Plasticity Model For Hypervelocity Impacts: A Hydro-Code Study, Carlos David Castellanos
Sensitivity Analysis Of The Johnson-Cook Plasticity Model For Hypervelocity Impacts: A Hydro-Code Study, Carlos David Castellanos
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
Computer simulations have been in use for decades in the modeling of hypervelocity impacts and general large deformation problems. Several computer codes have been developed to simulate this type of problems under a variety of geometric configurations and for any number of materials. These codes make use of several constitutive material models to simulate the response of the material under a variety of thermo-mechanical conditions. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model is widely used in the simulation hypervelocity impacts for the simulation of crater formation and even perforation of target structures. This thesis presents the results of a sensitivity study of this …
