Multivariate Time Series Classification Of Sensor Data From An Industrial Drying Hopper: A Deep Learning Approach, Md Mushfiqur Rahman Jan 2021

Multivariate Time Series Classification Of Sensor Data From An Industrial Drying Hopper: A Deep Learning Approach, Md Mushfiqur Rahman

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

In recent years, the advancement of industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing has made a large number of industrial process data attainable with the use of sensors installed in the machineries. This thesis proposes an experimental predictive maintenance framework for an industrial drying hopper so that it can detect any unusual event in the hopper which reduces the risk of erroneous fault diagnosis in the manufacturing shop floor. The experimental framework uses Deep Learning (DL) algorithms in order to classify Multivariate Time Series (MTS) data into two categories- failure or unusual events and regular events, thus formulating the problem as binary …

Real Vs Fake Faces: Deepfakes And Face Morphing, Jacob L. Dameron Jan 2021

Real Vs Fake Faces: Deepfakes And Face Morphing, Jacob L. Dameron

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

The ability to determine the legitimacy of a person’s face in images and video can be important for many applications ranging from social media to border security. From a biometrics perspective, altering one’s appearance to look like a target identity is a direct method of attack against the security of facial recognition systems. Defending against such attacks requires the ability to recognize them as a separate identity from their target. Alternatively, a forensics perspective may view this as a forgery of digital media. Detecting such forgeries requires the ability to detect artifacts not commonly seen in genuine media. This work …

Kidney Ailment Prediction Under Data Imbalance, Ranaa Mahveen Jan 2019

Kidney Ailment Prediction Under Data Imbalance, Ranaa Mahveen

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is the leading cause for kidney failure. It is a global health problem affecting approximately 10% of the world population and about 15% of US adults. Chronic Kidney Diseases do not generally show any disease specific symptoms in early stages thus it is hard to detect and prevent such diseases. Early detection and classification are the key factors in managing Chronic Kidney Diseases.

In this thesis, we propose a new machine learning technique for Kidney Ailment Prediction. We focus on two key issues in machine learning, especially in its application to disease prediction. One is related …
