Fire Hazard Analysis Of Technical Area 53 Building 1, Los Alamos National Lab, Brett L. Noakes

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This is an analysis of a 1970’s vintage building as it is compared to current building codes and standards. The purpose of this document is to assess if the current, as found construction of an existing building could achieve the sometimes more restrictive modern building codes. Both a prescriptive analysis and a performance-based analysis were completed to verify life-safety concerns and criteria as well as construction criteria. The prescriptive analysis compared existing, as found construction to current codes and standards while the prescriptive analysis used modern fire modeling techniques to see how likely fire scenarios would challenge the structure, if …

Fire And Life Safety Report- Battalion Headquarters Complex (Ueph), Mathew Mershimer Jun 2015

Fire And Life Safety Report- Battalion Headquarters Complex (Ueph), Mathew Mershimer

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This fire and life safety report covers a Battalion Headquarters Complex that is used for housing military troops. This is a complete review of the building with prescriptive based fire protection along with performance base review of the building. The prescriptive fire protection covers egress analysis of the space, passive fire protection (i.e. fire walls and doors) and active fire protection (i.e. fire alarm and fire sprinklers). The performance based section looks at the prescriptive requirements and sees if these would be enough for the application at hand. The building fire protection and life safety are covered by three different …

Fire And Life Safety Analysis- Building 310- The Landing, Tyler Paller Mar 2015

Fire And Life Safety Analysis- Building 310- The Landing, Tyler Paller

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

The purpose of this report is to analyze Building 310 with regards to fire and life safety. Analysis was done both prescriptively and from a performance based design standpoint. The prescriptive based analysis includes review of the building’s design with regards to egress, fire alarm systems, suppression systems, and structural fire protection. The building was reviewed against current NFPA codes and the International Building Code to examine compliance. The performance-based analysis consists of two different fire scenarios that were examined. The goal was to show that the building met safety criteria and does not pose undue risk to occupants. This …

Fire Protection Engineering: Culminating Experience Project Reports

This report covers both a prescriptive and performance-based review of fire and life safety systems for the Solar Energy Research Center at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The primary subjects covered are egress, fire alarm systems, and sprinkler systems. A unique feature and focal point for this report is the SERC east exit stair. This stair was originally designed as a glass atrium, but for various reasons cannot be utilized as an atrium. The east exit stair has a special VESDA detection system, is the most remote location for the sprinkler system, and is a primary exit for all three …
