The is collection consists of photos, post cards, and newspaper clippings largely relating to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad and the “Katy” depot and office in Parsons, Kansas.
In 1870 the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (M.K.T.) Railroad was incorporated in Junction City, Kansas. The railroad connected several military forts in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. In 1870, the town of Parsons, Kansas was founded for the purpose of being a hub where the lines to Junction City, Kansas and Sedalia, Missouri met. The original M.K.T. Station was built in 1871 and was torn down and replaced by a new building in 1895. On March …

Webinar: Modeling Freeway Traffic In A Mixed Environment: Connected And Human-Driven Vehicles, Xianfeng Terry Yang
TREC Webinar Series
Although connected vehicles (CVs) will soon go beyond testbeds, CVs and human-driven vehicles (HVs) will co-exist over a long period. Hence, it is critical to consider the interactions between these two types of vehicles in traffic flow modeling. In this study, we aim to develop a macroscopic model to understand how CVs would impact HVs in the traffic stream. Grounded on the second-order traffic flow model, we study the relationships among flow, density, and speed by two sets of formulations for the groups of CVs and HVs, respectively. A set of friction factors, which indicate CVs' impact to HVs, are …

Nexus Maximus
Our final project is the idea of an organization that works to legally transport refugees into the EU where they can safely become members of the local economy. Legal and social loopholes prevent refugees from entering easily, while refugees are actually seen to aid in temporary working economies.

The Challenge: Innovation for Refugees and Displaced Populations
One of the great challenges of our time is how to help refugees and displaced populations, and how to prevent the causes in the first place. Every minute, 24 people around the world are forced to flee their homes. That’s 34,000 …
