Advancement in both superconducting technologies and power electronics led to High Temperature Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage Systems (SMES) having some excellent performances for use in power systems, such as rapid response (millisecond), high power (multi-MW), high efficiency, and four- quadrant control. This paper provides a review on SMES applications to power systems.

The work aims to study the root mean square (RMS) responses to acceleration input for four state variables: the mS vertical acceleration, the mS pitch angular acceleration and the front and rear deflections of the suspensions. A half-car two degree-of-freedom model of semi-active control scheme is analyzed and compared with the conventional passive suspension system. Frequency response of the transfer function for the heave, pitch of the sprung mass and suspension deflections are initially compared and then mean square analysis is utilized to see the effect of semi-active scheme. A novel detector module configuration based on silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) detectors with LYSO scintillators, a multichannel mixed analog/digital ASIC and an FPGA-based digital data acquisition system has been developed for preclinical positron emission tomography (PET). The SCEPTER ASIC, originally developed for soft X-ray detection at Brookhaven National Laboratory, has a unique architecture incorporating multiple peak detectors and time-to-amplitude converters, and offers an extremely low dead time, making it ideal for coincidence detection. This paper presents the conceptual design and testing of a bio-inspired locomotion system activated through ionic-type conducting polymer actuators, which can operate both in dry and wet environments. The locomotion system is proposed for a mini autonomous crawling device for applications typified by pipe inspection, search, inspection and data gathering in confined spaces, which require mini-robotic systems. The locomotion system is based on the cilia, which has a simple planar bending motion. This paper deals with the movement of water in a natural unsaturated zone, focusing on infiltration-redistribution system. Infiltration refers to the downward movement of water due to the gravitational force and redistribution defines the upward movement of water due to the capillary rise. Under natural conditions, the movement of water through an infiltration-redistribution depended upon the relations among water content, hydraulic conductivity and tension of soil pore. Various combinations of water balance concepts, Richards' equation, soil-physics theory and capillary height concepts were applied to mathematically model the movement of water through infiltration-redistribution system.
