Pulse Height Digitizer For Fast Random Pulses, Andrew E. Pope
Pulse Height Digitizer For Fast Random Pulses, Andrew E. Pope
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
The purpose of this project was to develop airborne electronic equipment which would digitize the amplitude of random, fast, video pulses to an accuracy greater than one percent. For a detailed description of this task, refer to Appendix A, Research Contract Proposal 56-13AEE, “Development of an Anglo-To-Digital Converter.” This report covers the complete system design and the development of several basic circuits, in their practical form, which demonstrate system design feasibility.
Demodulation Of A Special Am-Fm Signal, Donald W. Dearholt
Demodulation Of A Special Am-Fm Signal, Donald W. Dearholt
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
As telemetry becomes more and more important in returning information, new types of modulation arise. Sometimes the modulation used is a direct result of a particular type of transducer, although the output of the transducer may be modified before the carrier is modulated to cause a very different type of signal than would otherwise have occurred.
A Study Of Minimum Element Syntheis Of A Two-Pole Rc Driving Point Impedance, William F. Carlson
A Study Of Minimum Element Syntheis Of A Two-Pole Rc Driving Point Impedance, William F. Carlson
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
The point of view taken in this thesis is from the point of view of economy. A network containing resistors of values 1 ohm and 1 megohm may present problems of accuracy and element tolerance limits which are not aided by the fact that all elements may be increased or decreased by a constant multiplier without changing the shape of the network gain curve.
A Microwave Technique For Determining The Electronic Properties Of A Moving Plasma, Bernard Hayes
A Microwave Technique For Determining The Electronic Properties Of A Moving Plasma, Bernard Hayes
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
A microwave interferometer technique which may be used as a diagnostic tool for determining the electronic properties of a moving plasma is described and analyzed. The plasma and microwaves are confined in a wave guide and longitudinal observation is employed. The complex reflection coefficient determined from resultant standing-wave pattern provides the means for obtaining the complex dielectric constant, conductivity, electron concentration and collision frequency of electrons with molecules in the plasma. The plasma used for these experiments is the reaction products of a gas detonation.
Functional And Economic Considerations Of An Electrical Line Feeding Large Concentration Loads, Seth O. Lewis
Functional And Economic Considerations Of An Electrical Line Feeding Large Concentration Loads, Seth O. Lewis
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
This paper discusses the considerations required for selecting particular characteristics of [transmission lines] and presents an original method of obtaining the most economical solution. A typical problem at the Public Service Company of New Mexico is solved to illustrate the usefulness of this method.
Design And Use Of A High Power Laser For Plasma Generation Studies., Philip N. Mace
Design And Use Of A High Power Laser For Plasma Generation Studies., Philip N. Mace
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
The advent of high power lasers to the technological scene has introduced the possibility of creating new effects utilizing the interaction of this high intensity light with matter. C. M. Fowler and D. B. Thomson of the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory suggested in 1963 the possibility of using a high power laser to pre-ionize and heat a target material to be contained in an explosively driven theta pinch machine. There had been calculations performed by John Dawson, Princeton University, and A. Engelhardt, Westinghouse Research Laboratories, which indicated that such an approach was theoretically feasible. The laser powers required, however, were …

Analysis And Synthesis Of A Current Regulator System, William P. Aiello
Analysis And Synthesis Of A Current Regulator System, William P. Aiello
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
This report describes a practical current regulator system used to accurately control the current delivered by a 500 kilowatt motor-generator unit. The generator supplies its current of 2000 amperes at 250 volts to a large water-cooled air-core solenoid used by LASL Group P-7 for experiments in connection with the Sherwood program.
After a general discussion of the system specifications and the basic regulator loop, each of the components in the basic regulator loop is described in considerable detail. The description, in most cases, is mathematical in nature although many circuit diagrams are included with brief descriptions when necessary for proper …
