A Pilot Scale Manufacture Of Chemical Fertilizer Using Locally Sourced Materials In Benin City, Nigeria, A C. Igboanugo Phd, J A. Ikimi

Some concerns have been expressed in the past regarding the appropriate technology for small scale blending of inorganic fertilizers in Nigeria. This paper reports on the progress made in this regard. Some samples of basic and raw materials were subjected to proximate analysis. Then, a sample of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium – 15:15:15) fertilizer which was produced with the materials on a pilot pan granulator proved to be potent on maize plant and compares favorably with the performance of commercial fertilizers.
