Induction Local Softening Of Advanced High Strength Steel, Jorge Saul Cisneros

This study was to determine the important parameters regarding induction local softening of dual phase steel with improved manufacturability for autobody stamping. Samples were inductively heat-treated, and then tested using micro hardness test, tensile test, microstructure analysis, and x-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that above 800oC there was a significant reduction in hardness. The cooling rate was found to be the most important parameter affecting the final properties of the steel. The tensile test showed a significant increase in total elongation with a small reduction in ultimate tensile strength. These factors led to the ultimate increase in formability. X-ray …
