The development of a global model for oxygen steelmaking and its validation against industrial data has been reported in Part 1 of this paper. Part 2 of this paper explained the model development of decarburization reaction of emulsified droplets and discussed the effects of bloating behaviour of metal droplets on the overall kinetics of the process. Part 3 of this paper focussed on the development of one sub-model on the decarburization reaction in the impact zone and critically evaluates the important process variables affecting the decarburization kinetics. A joint growth-carcass analysis was conducted to develop equations for predicting carcass quality traits associated with variation in growth path of crossbred cattle. During a four-year period (1994-1997) of the Australian "Southern Crossbreeding Project", mature Hereford cows (r = 581) were mated to 97 sires of Jersey, Wagyu, Angus, Hereford, South Devon, Limousin, and Belgian Blue breeds, resulting in 1141 calves. Data included body weight measurements of steers and heifers from birth until slaughter and four carcass quality traits: hot standard carcass weight, rump fat depth, rib eye muscle area, and intramuscular fat content. An approach to predict the remaining lifetime of lead-acid battery is described. The battery is used to provide back-up power to keep essential devices within wind turbine generators operational under emergency conditions. The approach is developed from a circuit model of the battery. From the results of laboratory tests, changes in the model parametric values due to ambient temperature variations, battery aging effects as well as discharge current level have been quantified. With the aim of simulating the behavior of saturated sand with initial static shear (i.e., sloped ground) undergoing undrained cyclic loading, which leads to liquefaction and large cyclic shear strain development, an elasto-plastic constitutive model which can describe both monotonic and cyclic torsional shear behaviors of saturated sand under drained and/or undrained conditions is presented. It can simulate qualitatively the stress-strain relationship and the effective stress path, even after the specimen enters fully liquefied state. A comprehensive model of oxygen steelmaking that includes the kinetics of scrap melting, flux dissolution, slag chemistry, temperature profile of the system, formation and residence of metal droplets in the emulsion, and kinetics of decarburization reaction in different reaction zones was developed. This paper discussed the development and the application of the model into an industrial practice. The results from the model were consistent with the plant data from the study of Cicutti et al. The development of a global model for oxygen steelmaking and its validation against industrial data was reported in Part 1 of this paper. This paper focused on the development of one sub-model on the decarburization reaction in the emulsion zone incorporating the bloated droplet theory. This paper also critically evaluated the current knowledge on the kinetics of decarburization reaction in the emulsion phase and discussed the repercussions of the new model for industrial practices. This paper describes an anisotropic elastoplastic based constitutive model for describing the behaviour of lignosulfonate stabilized soils. The proposed model is an extension of the earlier model developed by Dafalias (1987). The theoretical formulations of the current model were based on the frame work of critical state concept. The novel feature of this model is the incorporation of a material constant b, which takes into account of the degree of cementation. It is demonstrated that the model can capture the behaviour of lignosulfonate treated soil.
