Ferroelectric And Magnetic Properties Of Aurivillius Bim+1ti3fem−3o3m+3 Thin Films, Tingting Jia, Hideo Kimura, Zhenxiang Cheng, Hongyang Zhao

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Aurivillius Bim+1Ti3Fem−3O3m+3 (m = 4, 5, 6) thin films have been deposited by a pulsed laser deposition system. The x-ray diffraction patterns indicate the formation of orthorhombic phase. The remanent polarization (2Pr) of Bim+1Ti3Fem−3O3m+3 thin films is decreased with the m-number. Positive-up-negative-down measurements indicate the presence of ferroelectric (FE) polarization in as-obtained thin films. Piezoresponse force microscopy investigations confirm the existence of FE domains and the switchable polarization. Weak magnetic moment is detected in the Aurivillius films at room temperature. The present work …

3d Fe2(Moo4)3 Microspheres With Nanosheet Constituents As High-Capacity Anode Materials For Lithium-Ion Batteries, Hao Zheng, Shiqiang Wang, Jiazhao Wang, Jun Wang, Lin Li, Yun Yang, Chuanqi Feng, Ziqi Sun

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Three-dimensional (3D) Fe2(MoO4)3 microspheres with ultrathin nanosheet constituents are first synthesized as anode materials for the lithium-ion battery. It is interesting that the single-crystalline nanosheets allow rapid electron/ion transport on the inside, and the high porosity ensures fast diffusion of liquid electrolyte in energy storage applications. The electrochemical properties of Fe2(MoO4)3 as anode demonstrates that 3D Fe2(MoO4)3 microspheres deliver an initial capacity of 1855 mAh/g at a current density of 100 mA/g. Particularly, when the current density is increased to 800 mA/g, the reversible capacity of Fe2(MoO4)3 anode still arrived at 456 mAh/g over 50 cycles. The large and reversible …

An Investigation Of The Nanomechanical Properties Of 0.5ba(Ti0.8zr0.2)O3-0.5(Ba0.7ca0.3)Tio3 Thin Films, Zhong-Lan Cai, Zeng-Mei Wang, Huan-Huan Wang, Zhenxiang Cheng, Baowen Li, Xin-Li Guo, Hideo Kimura, Akira Kasahara Jan 2015

An Investigation Of The Nanomechanical Properties Of 0.5ba(Ti0.8zr0.2)O3-0.5(Ba0.7ca0.3)Tio3 Thin Films, Zhong-Lan Cai, Zeng-Mei Wang, Huan-Huan Wang, Zhenxiang Cheng, Baowen Li, Xin-Li Guo, Hideo Kimura, Akira Kasahara

For practical application, the functional piezoelectric film in microelectromechanical systems should meet the requirement of physical properties, as well as the mechanical properties. In this article, 0.5Ba(Ti0.8Zr0.2)O3-0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 (0.5BZT-0.5BCT) thin films with varied properties were prepared on (100) Si substrates via a sol-gel technique at different annealing temperatures. The effects of the annealing temperature on the morphology, piezoelectricity, hardness, and elastic modulus were studied. Particular attention was paid to the surface frictional behavior of films, and the changes in the friction force can be radically explained in terms of differences in the hardness/elastic modulus ratio and the residual stress of films. …

Terahertz Probes Of Magnetic Field Induced Spin Reorientation In Yfeo 3 Single Crystal, Xian Lin, Junjie Jiang, Zuanming Jin, Dongyang Wang, Zhen Tian, Jiaguang Han, Zhenxiang Cheng, Guohong Ma Jan 2015

Terahertz Probes Of Magnetic Field Induced Spin Reorientation In Yfeo 3 Single Crystal, Xian Lin, Junjie Jiang, Zuanming Jin, Dongyang Wang, Zhen Tian, Jiaguang Han, Zhenxiang Cheng, Guohong Ma

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Using the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy, we demonstrate the spin reorientation of a canted antiferromagnetic YFeO3 single crystal, by evaluating the temperature and magnetic field dependence of resonant frequency and amplitude for the quasi-ferromagnetic (FM) and quasi-antiferromagnetic modes (AFM), a deeper insight into the dynamics of spin reorientation in rare-earth orthoferrites is established. Due to the absence of 4f-electrons in Y ion, the spin reorientation of Fe sublattices can only be induced by the applied magnetic field, rather than temperature. In agreement with the theoretical predication, the frequency of FM mode decreases with magnetic field. In addition, an …

Delocalized Surface State In Epitaxial Si(111) Film With Spontaneous √3 X √3 Superstructure, Jian Chen, Yi Du, Zhi Li, Wenbin Li, Baojie Feng, Jinlan Qiu, Peng Cheng, S X. Dou, Lan Chen, Ke-Hui Wu

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

The " multilayer silicene" films were grown on Ag(111), with increasing thickness above 30 monolayers (ML). Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) observations suggest that the " multilayer silicene" is indeed a bulk-like Si(111) film with a (√ 3 x √ 3)R30° honeycomb superstructure on surface. The possibility for formation of Si(111)(√ 3 x √ 3)R30°-Ag reconstruction on the surface can be distinctively ruled out by peeling off the surface layer with the STM tip. On this surface, delocalized surface state as well as linear energy-momentum dispersion was observed from quasiparticle interference patterns. Our results indicate that a bulklike silicon film with …

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

A novel water-dispersible conducting polymer analogous to poly(3,4-dioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) has been chemically synthesized in a single reaction in high yield. PEDOT:DS, a new member of the polythiophene family, is composed of a complex between PEDOT and the sulfonated polysaccharide polyanion dextran sulfate. Drop-cast films of aqueous suspensions of the material display a native conductivity of up to 7 ± 1 S cm-1, increasing to 20 ± 2 S cm-1 after treatment with ethylene glycol and thermal annealing. Mass ratios of the precursors NaDS and EDOT were varied from 5:1 to 2:1 and a decrease in the …

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

We have investigated the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of A-site-ordered double-perovskitestructured oxides, AA'3B4O12 (A = Na, Ca, and La) with Mn and V at A' and B sites, respectively, using firstprinciple calculations based on the density functional theory. Our calculation results show that the antiferromagnetic phase is the ground state for all the compounds. By changing the A-site ions from Na+ to Ca2+ and then to La3+, the transfer of charge between Mn and O ions was changed from 1.56 to 1.55 and then to 1.50, and that between the …
