X-Ray-Induced Specific-Locus Mutation Rates In Newborn And Young Mice, Paul Bruce Selby Aug 1972

X-Ray-Induced Specific-Locus Mutation Rates In Newborn And Young Mice, Paul Bruce Selby

Doctoral Dissertations

The specific-locus mutation frequency resulting from 300 R of acute X irradiation has been determined for the germ cells present in male mice at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 21, 28, and 35 days of age and also for female mice at 0 days of age, Sample size was much larger for the males irradiated on day 0 than for other age groups but in all groups it was large enough to insure that an extremely high rate would be noticed. At 35 days of age the testis is histologically similar to that of the adult. It was …

The Development Of An Inventory Control Procedure For Low Usage Maintenance Spare Parts, Asa L. Whitaker Jr. Aug 1972

The Development Of An Inventory Control Procedure For Low Usage Maintenance Spare Parts, Asa L. Whitaker Jr.

Masters Theses

This analysis was made in an attempt to establish an inventory control procedure which would be applicable for low wage maintenance spare parts. Spare parts inventories are unique in industry since they are maintained as insurance stock to provide protection against the inability to procure a part readily when it is needed for a repair.· Due to this characteristic, the demand for these items is low and unpredictable; therefore, classical inventory models are not applicable. More sophisticated approaches have been developed to take these characteristics into account; however, these approaches require assumptions to be made which may not hold true …

An Investigation Of The Thermal Conductivity, Electrical Resistivity, And Thermoelectric Power Of Thorium Nitride-Uranium Nitride Alloys, Samuel Cavin Weaver Mar 1972

An Investigation Of The Thermal Conductivity, Electrical Resistivity, And Thermoelectric Power Of Thorium Nitride-Uranium Nitride Alloys, Samuel Cavin Weaver

Doctoral Dissertations

Thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, and thermoelectric. power measurements were made on thorium nitride (ThN), (Th-2% U)N, and (Th-5% U)N; electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power measurements were made on uranium nitride (UN). Results from the experiments indicated that ThN behaves very nearly as a pure metal in its transport properties. Thermal conductivities, λ, were high, electrical resistivities, ρ, were low, and thermoelectric power, S, measurements were nearly zero. Uranium nitride, which antiferromagnetic below 50°K and has a lower thermal conductivity, had a much higher electrical resistivity and a large positive thermoelectric power.

The thermal conductivity of ThN is much higher than …

Analysis Of A Complementary Amplifier Useful For High Slew Rate Applications, Dick Ray Fletcher Mar 1972

Analysis Of A Complementary Amplifier Useful For High Slew Rate Applications, Dick Ray Fletcher

Masters Theses

Operational amplifiers which are utilized in applications involving the amplification of high-frequency signals and for fast rise-time pulses must have a high slew rate and a wide bandwidth. Integrated circuit, particularly thin-film hybrid, amplifiers with wide bandwidths can be readily obtained; however, monolithic IC's are not readily available with as large a slew rate as can be obtained with discrete-device amplifiers.

The goal of this thesis was to investigate the design of an amplifier using a complementary output stage with the objectives of obtaining low quiescent power dissipation, a slew rate equivalent to the small-signal bandwidth of the amplifier, and …
