Trans-Neptunian Objects have gained interest in lieu of the success of the New Horizons mission. This paper seeks to further the design possibilities for such missions by offering sixteen trajectories to TNO’s by incorporating a Delta-VEGA maneuver, which allows for increased payload mass. These trajectories were simulated using Spaceflight Solution’s Mission Analysis Environment software, which allowed for constraining of mission parameters for optimization. The trajectories were made to have a C3 below 40 km2/s2, minimized transit time, and minimized ΔV. Results are visualized in Figures 3-6 as well as Table 1, which contain all relevant descriptive …

The recent outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused lock downs around the globe, forcing many schools and businesses to temporarily close. For them to reopen safely, it is imperative to identify cases quickly so that individuals can be quarantined before the virus spreads to more people. An alternative to testing is to screen individuals for high temperatures that would indicate fevers. With the risk of contagion that occurs during close contact between humans, traditional thermometers may be unsuitable. Thus, the purpose of this design project is to design, construct, and test a temperature measurement system using a thermal camera …

Scalable Spatial Framework For Nosql Databases - Haslam Scholars Program Undergraduate Thesis, Daniel F. Enciso

The spatial frameworks used for knowledge discovery in “Big Data” areas such as urban information systems (UIS) are well- developed in SQL databases but are not as extensive within certain NoSQL databases. The focus of this project is to develop this framework for emerging search systems (ESS) in UIS by utilizing NoSQL databases, notably the document-based MongoDB. Such framework includes spatial functions for the most fundamental spatial queries. An ESS in UIS can take advantage of these new and attractive features of scalability within MongoDB to provide a robust approach to spatial search that differs from SQL relations and scalability. …
